I drew the disabled ewe sheep tag for chealan butte. I have never been in the unit so don't know much about it yet. Any info and help I could get will be much appricated. Thanks

No shortage of sheep in there for sure.

Congrats!
If I were you I'd spend time talking to the bio on what the best age class of sheep you could take would be. Maybe they want a young ewe taken. I'd doubt that, but if they are looking to remove an old gummer, do your best to do just that.

Honestly, don't stress over this tag...every time I drive the road (there's one main road that goes up/down the backside) I've bumped sheep...like, almost literally, had to push them off the damn road! My son and I watched a band of over 70 at the old drain silo last year. My only recommendation is to either shoot one on the uphill side of the road or on the many flats...don't shoot one downhill as those canyons can be steep, especially if you are disabled. You will have plenty of ewe's to chose from, and I agree with Gringo about talking to Volson (bio out of Wenatchee) on which kind of ewe they want taken...

Shoot one with a cough. :o
If you are able to find the road through the unit, your hunt will be over.
-
I don't think I would leave the pavement.

I have helped 2 disabled hunters fill their tags in the unit. It will be an easy, but fun hunt. You may get access to the back road that is gated off so you will want to get that key. Might want to plan ahead and keep the cape as I think ewe capes are worth money or in demand. Good luck!
BTW, don't shoot one in a steep canyon. I rode a sheep out last year on a winch... :)

Congrats man. Keep us posted on how it goes. I don't know anything about that area but it sounds straight forward enough.

Thanks for the reply's so far guys much appreciated

Anything?

I don't know about bowhuntforever....but the member named "Poor Packer" who drew a Chelan Butte ewe tag contacted me before the hunt and I pointed him in the right direction and he later got a hold of me and told me he got his ewe...nice guy, offered me a steak to try...I passed, I have eaten enough Mutton while over in the Persian Gulf that I hope to never have to eat it again! (unless I draw a ram tag of course).

Probably 50-75 sheep or so. The younger rams were crusing all over the place. They were definitely rutting pretty hard.
