Title: Pin diameter help
Post by: wt on July 03, 2018, 06:09:37 AM
I ordered a new single pin sight in.019. However it's on perpetual  backorder. My question is: is .019 the best for hunting (spot and stalk, call in, or ambush) or is it just personal preference and .010 or .029 will work fine also? The latter two are more available.

It's all personal preference.

If you have good eyesight, the .010 is perfect.   I've never cared for the 0.29 as it covered up too much of the target, especially at low light.

Good luck!

Like Timberstalker said its a lot of personal preference.  .29 is large, covers a lot of your target especially at longer distances but the larger pin/fiberoptic will gather more light.  .10 is smaller, "could" allow you to be more precise but it gathers much less light so the pin itself can be harder to see in low light.  I've played around with all of them and prefer the .19, seems to be a good happy medium for me.

Thanks for the replies. For better or worse I ordered the .010, I do have good eyes.
