Title: 4th of july
Post by: GrampasGuns on July 05, 2018, 12:05:47 AM: Always so greatful for my gunbroke dogs on the 4th. The only downside is they are waiting for dead birds to fall out of the sky!

I walked my dog down to my brothers house last night while fireworks were going off all over. He couldn't have cared less. My neighbor came out to talk to me and she couldn't believe how chill he was. It cracked me up because he is the most energetic dog I've ever owned. He chases leaves that fall out of the tree for hours.

I think there were more fireworks in my neighborhood than ever before. Maybe they finally figured out it's a false alarm? My shorthair was on good behavior too. :dunno:

Post by: gaddy on July 05, 2018, 02:13:17 PM: Have never had a problem with my labs. When the male was young he would look and sniff around the yard for the first part. Now they just lay around in the back yard and don't pay any attention.

Loves water, loves to retrieve any thrown items, loves to roam about in fields and in the woods, but is not a hunter (meaning I don't hunt him). Doesn't mind normal (distant) gun fire "but" turns into a shell of a lab when the big booms of the 4th commence. Dang fool wants to crawl on my lap in my old guy recliner (ain't enough room for me and 85 lbs of lab). Nope, he don't care for those fireworks.

Post by: jackelope on July 05, 2018, 03:32:20 PM: I have a little 11 pound fake dog that I walk every single night of my life including last night around 11pm. Fireworks blazing away all around us and she just couldn't care less. People were amazed how she was.

We have 14 apple trees and when the fruit fell every year my big black lab Hoss (RIP) would gorge himself. If you couldn't find Hoss and it was apple season you need look no further than the orchard. One time I swear to God he was up standing with some deer eating apples.
