Title: E caller for bear
Post by: satchel3006 on July 05, 2018, 12:02:14 PM
Taking a hunting trip for grouse and bear in September. I checked the regs and it appears that e callers are legal and I just happen to have a fox pro patriot  (I think it said e callers were not legal for deer, turkey, and waterfowl) anybody use one? Never really hunted for bear and wanted to give it a shot any tips on calling bear in general? Or using an e caller?

I used it to kill my first bear. The bear got up high on the hill above me and the caller to look down on the caller to try and see what was making the racket. Left it on, snuck around it while it was distracted and whacked it. So leave it running once you get some action and let it cover for your noise a bit. Maybe switch off with fawn in distress with rabbit or coyote. Hard to call early in season when there's lots of berries or vegetation but later in the season when that dries up you should be ready to rock and roll.

Yeah I was figuring it might be more of a spot and stall kinda thing and maybe put it out when I got closer. Either way it’s not heavy and might be worth a shot

Have Bearmanric make you a fawn distress call, lighter and less expensive than an e-caller. Sometimes I double up, use an e-call and a hand call. Good Hunting.
