I already own a 30-06, 308 win and 300 win mag. I have a stockpile of 180 grain projectiles that none of the previous rifles use.....so what 30 caliber rifle should a guy had to his collection that would shoot 180 grain projectiles optimally?
300 Savage, 30 nosler?????? I could just sell the bullets but that wouldn't be much fun. LOL
Thanks for any input.

Your 30-06 or win mag is perfect for them

Yes, I know.....but the 300 win mag is shooting 212 ELD-X and 30-06 is 165-168 grainers. I guess I could buy another but of those two calibers but what fun would that be.

buy that savage .308 for sale on here.I shoot 180 grain with my model 10 and it shoots them very well.

You got everything covered but the slow end. 300bo?

This is the one.

If it was me I would get a 30 Nosler. If for no other reason than I would like to see if that cartridge is at as good as the hype Nosler has given it. Also, you have the classic 300's might as well get the newest thing out there.

Will the 300 blk out push the 180's with good accuracy? Haven't really considered that round till now. :o :o :o Hmmmmm
-
military shoots 210 grainers out of them.

If you buy a 30 Nosler it will shoot the 212’s better than the 300wm and you’ll be left selling the 180’s + a 300wm IMHO.

Sell em.....

You see the cost of brass for the 30 nosler!!!!!! I'm sticking with the 300 win mag for now. LOLOL
In all honesty, I looked at the 30 nosler real close but all the data showed the 300 win mag keeping pace with it. Not to mention the 300 win mag is tried and proven.

Sell em.....
Hate selling things like this....a guy never knows when he will need 500 180 grain accubonds. Not to mention why take a loss when you can have an excuse to play / load a new round. :chuckle: :chuckle:

The real question is what would you use this new .300 for with 180gr accubonds????
180gr in a .300 is a nice middle of the road do anything size. If you already have a good load with a 212gr and a 165gr load for your 30-06 what would you need a middle of the road round for? Now I’m thinking 300bo. That just might be the funnest option!
-
Do you have a heavy target rifle in 30cal or an ultralight? Giving you some ideas.
-
300 H&H would be fun to play around with. Other than cool factor you wouldn’t gain much, if any, over your win mag or a WSM.

Load the 180's subsonic and go 300BLK suppressed.

Just buy another 30-06. :twocents:

I load my Dad's 300 WSM with 180 Accubonds in the 2930-40 range. 180s are "optimal" in the range of performance which you've already got. Any smallerth
I'd be pretty bored with the .30 cal in your situation. I'd probably rather sell them and put it toward higher quality scope, bipod, rangefinder etc.
