Title: Settlement of 3D printed guns case?
Post by: Blacktail Sniper on July 17, 2018, 09:12:28 AM
If this is real and what is printed is true, this could be huge.

The settlement language includes an agreed definition of what is NOT considered a military weapon, specifically under .50 cal and not fully automatic, it is not considered a military weapon.

If this is truly real and not some fake article, I have no clue, but hopefully someone here knows the reputation of the publication/article writer, and can jump in, this really takes some of the anti-black rifle crowds thunder away!!

Trump administration re-categorized common small arms (non-automatic, under 50 cal) to no longer fall under ITAR, but instead be regulated by standard Dept. of Commerce international trade regulations.  Since ITAR no longer applies and this case was brought based on ITAR rules, the case is over and settled based on the policy change.  That was the intent of Trump making the policy change.  But it's not a permanent situation.  The "non-military" wording isn't a law change, just a presidential policy change.

It's just an administrative policy change. The next administration could swap it back at any time. It needs Congress to pass a law protecting blueprints and plans, or for the Supreme Court to decide a case in favor of the First Amendment.  This case would have actually been better off making it to the Supreme Court, such that it sets a real legal precedent rather than just a political policy change.

If Trump loses the next election, this will likely get reverted back to being under ITAR.

If it remains legal for the next 6 years it won't matter if they change it back. The proliferation of self made guns will have already made its impact.

Yes the article is real.

As I said when they first started this a year or so ago when NObama was still President and a big brew haha was going on with 3d guns. I said then they need to shut up. They didn't people kept reporting it and soon enough ATF stepped in and shut them down. :bash:
Same thing here but now Liberals and enough so called Conservatives are falling in line to stop this.
I said it once I'll say it again the yeah but crowd need to go.
(I love the second amendment But). Or the (Shall not infringed... yeah but).
If the word infringed means to trespass on then any and all gun control is unconstitutional; not opinion but fact.
If infringed or shall not be infringed means only as long as it's deemed ok by a majority then I guess whatever.
