Good evening. I am a new hunter. I have only gone turkey hunting with a shotgun. But for fall I would like to try archery hunting. Unfortunately I am 6’7”. The local archery shop measured me for a draw length of 32.5in. They had two bows that where over $1300 for just the bow. Does anyone have recommendations for big compound bows that don’t cost an arm and a leg? Thank you for your help.

Answered my own question. Bear encounter came with a 32in draw. Also there was a local one for a fair price.
-
@JPhelps I believe Jason has the same issue as you. He might have some ideas for other options as well.
-
Thank you for the idea. I ended up getting the bear encounter. I wanted a beginner bow and it seems to fit the bill. Now to read all I can about bows.
-
There are a few options. Athens has the ascent 32" 999 MSRP. Pse has a few.

Learning more today. As for arrows uncut arrows are long enough for a long draw length. I would like to have had the cash to buy a new bow. But since I’m new to hunting and wanting to try my hand a bow hunting. I do not have the budget for the nice bows. Maybe in a few years. Thank you for the ideas for next time.

Ricon650, there are several arrow companies that have un-cut arrows at 31" and 32" Goldtip and Victory I am not sure about Easton
I have a friend that is getting into archery and he has the same draw length as you 32" I am looking for a used bow for him, please keep us posted on how you like the Bear Bow.
-
You’ll have trouble with arrow length as well as spine. Easton has a 6mm Bloodline with a 240 spine and 32”.

So far the bear is doing well. I have it set at 65 lbs draw weight. I’m using un cut 32in beman arrows. They have a 300 spine. Hopefully I can improve my shooting enough to go out for turkey and maybe grouse in September. I don’t know if I’ll be good enough to switch my deer tag from modern firearms.

Update. I bought a left handed Bear encounter. But I am right handed. I did not know the difference between left and right handed bows. So the hunt for a cheap beginner bow starts again.
-
If you want a decent used bow let me know I'm sure I can come up with something under 400.

If I would have read that post before yesterday. I bought one off eBay. But if it turns out to be a turd. I’ll be giving you a call.
-
Hope it works out  done be afraid to ask questions if you have any.

You dont mention where you are located but there are lots of great archery clubs around the state. Check out the Washington Archery Association Group on Facebook. lots of opportunities to attend 3d shoots. you should be able to find a club near you from this list.

I’m in Lynnwood. I know Kenmore gun range has a 3D course but I will definitely check out that link. I bought a bear attitude. It should be here Friday. I want to practice at home before I embarrass my self around others.

Silver arrow bowmen is in Mount Vernon. $3 a day to shoot the walk through course and $40 to belong to.
On Facebook, have a thread with our upcoming 3d Aug 18&19th and all about the club under the events and organizations.

30in draw is too short. Unless it’s adjustable. The new to me bow should be here next week.

Should be adjustable to 32
