Just wanted to get a thread going that we can keep each other posted on what rivers are holding fish and what experiences/luck you may have had.
Both from boat, or shore fishing.
Lots of us looking for a fishing opportunity to this year so let's help keep each other informed on who what's where?
Two weeks ago spent Saturday floating blue creek for steelhead. Was on the water at about 5am. Floated untill approx 3pm. Lots of other anglers. No fish seen at all. Talked to the fish counter and the boat launch and she said only 2 fish were reported all day. Pretty surprised.

I haven't tried this year but last was horrible for steelhead. Shame what it has become
-
Fished Toledo to IFA and back last Sunday. 8a.m. to noon. 3 rods. Divers and coon shrimp. 1 bite at 11 landed a chrome 10 lbr. May try again tomorrow. I think steelhead runs will start improving a little next year.

You looking to target steelhead November is probably a better time to start your search.

It’d help if they didn’t feed all the fish to the birds and otters.

That's why I'm hoping next year will be better.

Are the nets installed yet?

I believe they were. I would have to check to be sure. The ponds are empty now. I know that there was pretty intense hazing going on and a few birds shot while the smolts were in the pond. Sounded like it made a pretty big difference.

Ocean conditions are improved too. Still not awesome but much improved.

Buddy pulled a few kings out of the carbon river. They didnt look too bad either.

My son got a nice bright King on Saturday, and his buddy got 4, his were kinda green and brown.

Went out to Humptulips Saturday morning. Took the drift boat down to the first bend then made camp, it was only 3am so we killed time and started a fire in the pouring rain. Whole day the water was boiling with kings, amazing thing to see.
Went home with my limit on kings, buddy and his dad both got one.
-
Great work. It is exciting to see rivers full of salmon. Can be ultra frustrating too :chuckle:

Was planning on hitting the Hump this Saturday but looks like the water flow is dropping quick already.

Water level was already pretty low. With the twin we've been having you should be good to go.

Good deal Smossy. A buddy of mine has been getting into lots of kings (coast rivers), but only a few will bite. Had snow in the mountains down to about 6000' which started melting already and picking up the rivers.

Fished the Hump this past Saturday. Water was really low, but found a sweet deeper hole where fish were holding. First hour of light was on fire Fishing eggs under a float. Add some bloody tuna to your cures. Seems to be a key scent to getting these fish to bite. I suggest, getting to a spot before sunrise before anyone else gets there. Once the locals show up, it’s a snag fest and they’ll make sure to run you out of that place.

Looking for some worth while salmon stalking ,not very familiar with the area you folks are talking , could you elaberate on where I might be headed , and what's needed , or maybe not ?where's this hump , I'm allllll about beating the locals , I'm a veteran little goose dam battaler 😂 ( hillariouse ! ) Anyways detections would be great thanx guys
-
that's the humptulips, i would wait for a bit more rain before making that trip myself, fishing that river in low water is frustrating. outside of the popular spots(salmon hatchery, dike road, reynvaan's bar etc) access is pretty spotty, unless you have a boat.

Any fly fishers with tips for the Nooksack river? Any advice, especially regarding tackle and strategy, would be greatly appreciated. Headed up there this week.

If you want some fun hit up the mouth of Stevens creek :chuckle:

Lol at Stevens creek you’ll have fun hooking fish, and hooking other people’s fish! Make sure to leave your bad tempers and attitudes at home haha. But good spot to catch some fish.
