Title: Huckleberry unit any good to hunt?
Post by: bornhunter on August 01, 2018, 06:07:45 PM
Looking at a piece of ground to buy in Huckleberry unit (#120 I think). Want to be able to hunt from the ground I buy. It looks though like this unit is surrounded by major roads and towns. Not familiar with the country much and really like unit 105 but cant find the right piece of ground there. Any decent public ground to hunt in Huckleberry?

Hunting is great there. Just not upland except for grouse and turkey

Not much public in huckleberry (121), there is some timberland. Hunting can be good depending on species (whitetail, turkey, grouse, bear, moose). Tons of public across the highway in 49 degrees north GMU. Check out the WDFW website, the "go hunt" feature will show you the public/private break down. Then check the harvest statistics to see the harvest rates for each species/gmu. Good luck on the property hunt.
