Unreal.....
My aunt has spent many hours over the years glassing hillsides, hiking trails, scouting areas for the deer we go after each hunting season. She decided to give this whole thing a shot for herself a couple years back and has started carrying her own rifle and deer tag. A deer hunting addict she has become to say the least. She has yet to notch the tag she carries each trip up the mountain. After striking out in the draw we tried something new this year and decided to buy a few raffle tickets, what could it hurt right?
I punched in my ticket numbers... nothing as usual. I talked her through entering my uncles over the phone, nothing as usual. Figuring on the same results for hers I waited with slim to no chance of anything exciting when I hear them both gasp.....she says, "I DREW"!!!!
First raffle ticket purchase, first non-general season tag, first time anticipating a draw in WA state and she goes and wins the mule deer raffle!!!! Pinch me I'm dreaming, this is what memories are made of. I cannot wait to get my boots on the ground to find her a monster. I can't believe it.

Super awesome....let us know how she does. Good Luck.
-
Sweet, congrats!
-
That's great!!!! Congrats to her cant wait to see what she ends up with!!!!!
How many tickets did she get?
-
Nice!
-
Wow, what a great dream.
-
where are you checking the raffle tickets at?
-
nevermind, i found it
-
Congrats on the draw :IBCOOL:
-
Suuuuweeet!!! :IBCOOL:
-
How exciting is that for her and you. Congratulations.
-
I LOVE when someone scores on the raffle like this! Congrats and I'll keep my eyes peeled. What caliber of deer is she looking for?
-
That's so awesome! Score should mean nothing to her, this is her first buck, get out and enjoy some time in November during the rut and find a buck that she likes, no reason for a first time hunter to set the bar so high imo.
-
Yes and no. This is probably the only time she is going to get this kind of an opportunity. Not sure I would set the bar at 200" but I would set it at 170" or better. And of course my standard "trash" trumps everything.
Congrats on a great tag and please post up a story when the hunt is over.
-
That's awesome!

 Super cool! Thanks for sharing.

Have you recieved the phone call yet? Reason i ask is, i cant find my numbers to check, but i hear the winner on the northeast pkg bought the same number of tickets that i bought.
-
Congrats to your aunt on drawing the tag! Have a great hunt looking for Mr. Big.
-
Congrats to you all, I hope she gets a buck that makes her smile, that's really what it's all about!
-
That's incredible, Congrats to her. Hope all her persistence and hard work pays off. Enjoy the time afield.

Lots of help to be had here, let us know

I wouldn’t waste to much time early on unless you have time to burn. Hit it hard in December in the winter range. :twocents:

Thank you everyone. I am beyond excited as you can imagine. What an opportunity... Fortunately we have seen quite a few different spots in the late season over the years that we are confident will produce an animal worthy of the tag. We have a good plan in place at the moment but dont want to be naive enough to think we have the best location or plan. I would welcome any and all advice you are willing to hand over as it could only prepare us better in dialing in what we are setting out to do. We have pretty well decided not to spend much time early in the season outside of scouting ground on weekends, etc. If only I had 3 months vacation to give.....
Thanks in advance on this one and I will be sure to keep the followers updated on her story. :IBCOOL: :IBCOOL: :IBCOOL:

He logged on today at 3pm, my guess is because of the "@" mention that he received via email. Hopefully he is working on the response but it is also possible that this hunt didn't end the way that they had hoped and it is salt in the wound to come on here and talk about it.
Hopefully we get the story but more importantly I hope they enjoyed they time in the woods even if a tag was not filled.
-
i think with the way the weather was this year most peoples hunts didnt turn out the way they wanted but we make the best of what we are given. I would have loved things to be different on my hunt but in o way will i say im salty about the way things turned out. Hopefully we get an update good or bad.
-
Most hunters put way to much emphasis on the ## SCORE ## of an animal and get frustrated when they don't hit that score. So if the weather does not cooperate and you kill a smaller buck that you hoped......you get salty, embarrassed, etc. I get it, though I don't agree with it. You get a quality hunt with little to no pressure. Be proud of what you kill and bring it back to the forum members who helped you. Even if you don't want to publish in the open forum you should address those who helped you via PM out of respect.
I don't post many pics anymore due to the ## boys and I don't help many with advise because of the lack of follow up. Sad but most on this (and other) sites are looking for handouts and have no plan to follow up.
-
I am starting to see a trend in my offers to help people, nobody takes me up on them!!!! It could however be that all of my information sucks.
-
WOW guys... really sorry I never got back to this post!!! Just realized today. I will work on the story ASAP! The short answer, she filled the tag on a worthy buck, happy with what we were able to come home with one! Below the high bar we had originally set for ourselves but regardless was an incredible buck and more so an incredible hunt. Ill get to the story... half a year later :sry:
-
Hey man, she scored an awesome opportunity and tons of legal hunting time. That alone is the victory. A buck is icing on the cake.
-
Congrats and looking forward to the story
-
You’re gonna finish this one before the new one starts?
-
Did she draw again????
-
Good luck to you both! We'll want to see a photographic journal of the experience. Please keep that in mind.
-
Did she draw again????
Sounds like he is at least going along on another hunt according to his post in the other thread.
-
You’re gonna finish this one before the new one starts?
:chuckle: :chuckle: Yes that should be where I start, at this point I could combine and write a book!
-
Yes,
She drew again.
-
