Title: Idaho elk draw 76/66A late advice
Post by: eliandsky on August 04, 2018, 09:35:14 AM: Drew the late rifle elk tag. Hunted it for deer plenty of times and elk on the OTC tag but scored a rifle tag. Anyone ever hunt this tag? How difficult is it w the deer hunters? And any advice on timber hunting? I know there’s lots of bulls but after about the time deer opens big bulls are gone. Any advice?

Post by: bornhunter on August 11, 2018, 09:17:39 PM: I has that tag years ago and blew it by shooting the first branch antler I saw. He was a nice bull for a 5x5 but what I saw on the way out made me want to cry. Dont get in a hurry amigo.

Post by: eastfork on August 15, 2018, 05:45:51 PM: The first tag is way better, its before all the deer hunters show up. Look how many deer hunters are in the woods in those units. Might make you think twice.....its one of the most popular deer hunting units in idaho. The first tag starts October 1. That's the one you want.
