Title: Early scouting
Post by: Billy74 on August 11, 2018, 03:48:39 PM
Had a good walk in the woods looking for some new spots.  Hot and hazy but beautiful county.  Didn’t venture too far from the road and didn’t see any sign but found a few camping spots.  I’ll check back in September but man I wish I had a trail cam to stick up today. Look again.  I'm betting there's some more sign close.  That trail alone is sign that the area is used at least sometimes during the season, and should be enough to keep you looking. You might want to follow it a ways to see where it starts or ends.

A trail cam is great to build confidence that you are in the right area but not required for a successful hunt.   Keep scouting.  You don't have to find the animals now, just know that they are there.

I didn’t get to go in as far as I wanted but did note the trails and a few beds near the wet areas.  I was expecting droppings or tracks but I’m hoping it looks different come oct.  the other downside was how close it was to forest roads but there was plenty of country beyond that.  All in all I found some good spots to set up and should have some choices.  The season can’t come soon enough.
