If SB 5127 becomes law it would reconstruct the Fish & Wildlife Commission into a mere advisory board, and give the Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife (WDFW) the total authority to set our hunting seasons without the public input process we currently have. It also makes the Director of WDFW a cabinet post, appointed by the governor.
Should this pass, our current access to public process in the structure of our hunting and fishing seasons would largely curtailed.
I ask that all sportsmen to what they can to protect the authority of our Fish and Wildlife Commission, they are our sounding board and our best interface in the process of maintaining the resource and our opportunity!
Please do what you can to help this toxic bill go away!

Just want to add-
SB5127 basically puts all decisions regarding wildlife, hunting and fishing, directly in the hands of the Governor. It has passed it's first hurtle and is now in the House Natural Resources Committee. Current amendments under discussion would perserve the Commission but still make the Director of WDFW a gubernatorial appointee.
If this does not sound good to you, please contact your state rep and senator asap and ask them to please, kill SB 5127 entirely!
