Lincoln Co. black bear. Sorry for the poor picture quality. Lots of smoke in the air.
-
 killer blaze
-
Wow. That is a beautiful bear. Moving to Washington beginning of October. Looking to try and get one myself.
-
Call it the kid rock bear! Wearing a wife beater tank top! :chuckle:
-
Did you skin it on it's back like you were doing a rug mount? Or did you do the dorsal cutting down his back? I keep seeing both ways for a half mount and can't decide what's best.
-
If you know you are going with a half life size. Skin it down the back (dorsal). Skin up the back of each arm to help get them out. Stay out of the armpits with any cuts. Leave enough hide in the front and back so that it is not short.
-
Thanks! That clears it up!

I always feel bad when cutting down it's back, feels wrong. We have done a few and cut down the back and tube out the front legs. Also can't bring myself to leave back half of hide in woods, iv tanned a few back ends just to practice.
Cool blaze, good pose to show it off

Makes sense. What's the best way to leave evidence of sex if you are skinning for a half mount?
