Probably not the best time of year to get a discount code but I'm looking to switch over to Kuiu this year and here is what I'm looking to get me started. Does anyone have a review on any of these or a suggestion on another product?
All in Verde (I think. I have both Vias and Verde in my shopping cart)
Attack Pant
Guide DCS Jacket
Ultra Merino 125 SS Crew-T
Peloton 200 Zip-T
I think this would be a good start on switching over and I can add to it later.
-
I was gifted a pair of the kuiu rain pants & they are well worth it.
-
I run kuiu gear and that is a good set up you're talking about it will cover most of your hunting needs.
Add a puffy and rain gear
-
Not a piece of Kuiu clothing that I am regretful of. I’ve got a lot of it and I enjoy all
Of it. From the merino thru the peloton line. I wear the chugach rain gear and Love it also!
I will I say wear the alpine pant more than the attack. If I need waterproof or warmth beyond that I wear merino or chugach.
I do like the lightest weight peloton for next to skin layers. Then the peloton beyond that. The heaviest merino layer is real nice too!

Have all the gear you have mentioned above. None of it will disappoint

Griz, don’t suppose you’re in public service? LEO, firefighter, local/state/federal government?

So I bought a whole setup 3 years ago. Here is what I originally purchased:
Guide DCS Jacket and pants
Chugach rain gear set
Kenai hooded jacket
145 base layer tops and bottoms
200 peloton hoodie
Alpine pants
Socks
Belt, hat and gloves(liner, tiberon and guide)
Here is what I added:
210 base layer bottoms
210 hoodie
Kenai pants
Guide vest
Yukon gloves
I sold:
Guide dcs jacket and pants
Alpine pants are now the pro pants. Haven’t tried those. The alpines are awesome. The attacks are awesome, just don’t own a pair but a buddy does.
Guide jacket and pants were too warm for me for general use.
The peloton and merino are both great.
Typically I run merino base layers, the 210 top, alpine pants and if brisk the vest.
In Illinois I ran the 210 base layers, kenai set and the rain gear. I was warm and happy with 34 degrees and raining.
For early season you should be happy with what your looking at, the jacket has vents but does not breathe well otherwise.

I’m active with Chelan County Volunteer Search and Rescue but I don’t think KUIU has any discount setup for SAR. It would be nice especially now that they also carry solid colors. I would be buying their gear for SAR.

Call me real quick, I may have a place u can get s big discount. Worth a try. Rory. 3604023744

I have both the attack and pro pants. I like the pro pants better. If you can afford get a pair of each. I should probably sell a pair of my attack pants because I think I have 3 pair and a pair of the pro pants.

I went to all Kuiu a few years ago and never looked back! I just made an order the other day and they provide you with a referral code. If you are interested it saves a bit! Best of luck!

I do like the pro pant. they are out of stock right now but they are on my list. Thank you

From reading here it looks like the alpine pants are now the pro pants I have the alpine and the guide pants both are great the side vents are great for dumping heat both are very comfortable and the stretch makes a big difference when climbing around

Is KUIU better than Sitka? I know Jason was involved with Sitka and then split off to do KUIU. I'm looking for a new gear set up for this upcoming MF Elk season. Does KUIU offer a military discount? Currently deployed overseas and have been doing lots of research on new gear, just never considered KUIU. Any help is appreciated.

Have a chat with Wapatitalk1. He'll get you set up.

Both are top quality gear. I like KUIU better but that is a personal preference. As far as military discount you get 10%. All you have to do is scan and email your DD214 or maybe just your active duty military ID. I did it a few months ago and it was pretty quick.

I have a Kuiu Jacket and gaiters. Both are exceptional. I am amazed at how warm the jacket is, even as light as it is. I have some Kuiu stuff, some Sitka and some Kryptek. All are comparable.

I have many miles/hunts on my attack pants & recently purchased the pro pants. Also have a merino short sleeve, peloton 97,peloton 240 zip,130 zip off bottoms & ultra down vest. Everything has been good for me so far but am leaving tomorrow for 2 weeks in Wyoming hunting antelope & muleys in the high country. Let ya know how the pro pants fare when I get back.👍🏻

Jealous on the WY hunt!! Good luck!

My usual go to has been attack pant, teton short sleeve, peleton 240 full zip and guide jacket. Added chugach rain pants and rain jacket for late season. Im primarly hunting SW Washington september till the end of the year so you got an idea of the weather
Cold gear base layers I go with other more affordable stuff for late seasons.
On a side note, i usually wear an XL. And the rain jacket and pants were a lot larger than expected unlike the rest of the XL sized stuff i got. Had to downsize to large. This was with layering undernearh including guide jacket in XL. This is in verde 1.0, not sure if anything changed in later manufactured stuff.

Pulled the trigger!!! Can’t wait for the gear to come in this week hopefully before next weekend!! :IBCOOL:
-
Very cool
Nothing like waiting for the ups man for new hunting gear.
You'll be impressed and happy with your choice enjoy
-
Not sure if you’re a fan of gaiters but Kuiu’s are awesome, I love mine. I too made the plunge to Kuiu and haven’t liked back. Nice to be able to order items as well knowing exactly how rhey’ll fit, no more second-guessing. Best of luck

It’s gonna be Christmas at my house today when the FEDEX guy shows up!!! Can’t wait!!!
-
You wont be disappointed!

I’ve just about everything they made when it was still being made in BC. Most of my stuff is about 9 yrs old and it’s still going just fine. The merino shirt is getting pulled up from the pack and fading, but it’s 9yrs old so... it’s also worth noting I sold all my Sitka stuff when I bought all the Kuiu stuff. Had one of the original 6000ci packs. Just run an 1850 now. What I carry can fit in the pack, meat can go in the load sling between the bag and frame. I love their stuff, though most of mine is the Canadian made stuff.
-
A KUIU fan is born!! Love this stuff so far!! Can’t wait to get into the field to test it!!
-
Nice!

UPDATE: Spent 4 days scouting & hunting antelope in my old attacks & merino ss and they were bulletproof & comfy as usual in cool mornings & warm afternoons. Wore the new pro pants, merino ss,peloton 97,240 jacket & beanie & ultra down vest chasing high country mulies for 6 days. Love it all but I can say the new pro pants are amazing! Tough and comfy but not a single hitch hiker stuck to them! SOLD!😍 all our icon pro packs were awesome as well!
On another note, the hunt was amazing & a dream come true for me & my boy! Story & pics to come in another thread when we get home. Good luck to everyone with their new gear and hunts this season!😎👍🏻

The only Kuiu I have that doesnt get used much is the Guide Jacket. Just doesn’t seem to breathe that well and leads to cool but clammy feeling . For me those softshells are more for camp but they are popular with the Northface crowd so maybe its just me.

I like my Guide jacket when I know I'm in for a long cold glassing session, that's about it.
If it were wind proof I'd probably use it more.
