Staying at westport this weekend to do a little crabbing and surf perch fishing.
Woke up a bit ago to head down to the docks, and my damn cooler is gone! Stolen from my camp sight at twin harbors. Makes me freaking sick, now I've lost a whole morning of fishing cause I've gotta go find a new cooler.
If I catch someone with it I'm fixing the problem, and will need someone to bail me out of jail >:(
-
It's bad when ou have to put cameras around your camp.
-
Meth is a real problem in those parts. If you make them bleed just be careful not to catch the diseases they carry......Better to just break a knee so they walk with a limp the rest of their life. Makes it easier for others to identify who the scum of the earth are.
Sorry this happened....I hate thieves.

Was it an Rtic or Yeti cooler. I just bought one this year and have been stressing over having it walk away from camp while out hunting. I love the thing but would loose My *censored* if it walked away. $$$
-
Sorry to hear this,This was a selling point for me with my pelican cooler. The double hard handles in each side get a bicycle cable lock ran thru and locked to tree or something else in camp.
-
Had the same thing happen down there at American Sunset camp ground.

Just a ozark trail, but still 150$ I didnt want to spend twice.
The only reason I haven't bought a nicer cooler is theft. Until we can start beating ass when it happens this crap will continue on.
Oh well, in aberdeen now.
Any good sporting goods stores to check out after breakfast while I'm here?

I'll have to look into replacing with one of these.

Honestly, we all need to be more aware of our surroundings. I’m always suspicious of people, hoody’s on, backpacks. We need to start watching out for each other, it should be legal to beat a thief with a bat! Hate these worthless pukes, sorry you didn’t catch them in the act. My next cooler will be a Colman extreme, it’s been proven as good as the high end coolers.

I own the coleman extreme and it works great.
Just buy a cooler that is too big to steal........I do!!! LOLOLOLOL :chuckle: :chuckle: :chuckle: :chuckle:

Ice is cheap grab a styrofoam and to 🎣
-
I have coleman extremes at home, they do work just as well as the rotomolded. The rotomolded was nice because it was tough, with killer latches. I just left walmart with a 12$ cooler. Itll do just fine this trip.
-
A few years ago, we were warned in a state campground to not leave our cooler out at night as kids were stealing them to see if they could score some beers. Might not be tweekers, but still are *censored*s....
-
They won't stop until there are actual consequences. A beatdown leaves a lasting impression

Last year I stayed in a motel in Billings MT while I was waiting for my elk to be processed. I had 3 ice chests in the back of my pickup. I went out the next morning & the only one they stole was the artic chest that looks similar to a yeti but costs less. The motel manager was so nice she comped me 2 nights free & I came out ahead of what I paid for the artic. :IBCOOL:
Sorry your trip was spoiled. Crooks are everywhere & they never seem to caught. Hope you can fill your new chest with the fish/crabs this weekend.

Theives and liars :pee:

After the 1st perch caught, I broke off my main line. Tied back up, broke first cast.
My dang eyelet is broke on the only rod I brought with me, cutting the line.
When it rains it pours lol

You got off easy. I had 2 $800 chain saws stolen from my truck at Open Sores while chasing after my kids

I absolutely hate thieves. Wish you could have caught them in the act...

Slim chance but since druggies not have any common sense I would go down to the second hand store and let them know what happened , you may find some luck there
-
Lots of worthless pukes in this area. Wasn't so bad when we moved here years ago. Seems like the thieves get worse every year. My neighbor just had a bunch of stuff stolen. At least the police dept. has been responsive to requests for additional patrols. Did you file a report?
-
I just had a conversation w my hunting partner about camp theft. In over 25 years of hunting in WA, all from a tent camp for me, we’ve only had one theft incident. That happened to be in the Sinlahekin during early archery deer about 20+ yrs ago. Had a cooler stolen from outside the tent. Found down the road with the contents strewn about. We figured they were looking for beer and tossed it when they found only food and soft drinks. Since then I’ve had up to three coolers tucked next to the tent every elk season w no problems....
A big knock on wood for sure!!
-
Dang that sucks....wish I woulda seen this thread a few weeks ago I could have loaned you a cooler while you were fishing...I deliver beer to Westport and have been waiting to catch someone in my trailer
-
Thieves will be thieves!😡
While out hunting we had a couple kids(20 or so) come into our camp and steal our buddies brand new yeti. He drove a couple miles down the road after our hunt and the morons were literally pulled over on the side of the road with the cooler sitting on the bed of the truck! He pulls up jumps out makes sure they see the glock on his hip and walks right up to them and grabs his cooler! They literally say to him “ O that’s yours” :o. He gets back into his truck and comes back to camp
-
That seems to be a Westport problem. We had someone steal everything that wasn't bolted to the boat in the hotel parking lot a few years ago. Live and learn, I guess. The guys at the hardware store at the marina were nice enough to loan us a couple rods for the weekend.
Love the fishing over there. Can't stand the addicts.
-
There's a problem, yet nobody does anything about it
-
This crap will not stop unless TPTB start cutting hands off again.
-
Same everywhere. How would you like to be camping at Packwood lake overnight with you kid and her friend and come back to your truck the next day and find some poopbags removed your Warn winch from the front of your truck. Yep, no kidding. Oh how I wish I would have walked out early and found those boys! Would not have called 911! :mgun2: :mgun2:

Not that i don't agree to a point but this post doesn't paint a very good picture for hunters and fisherman with the guns a blazing makes it look a little shoot first ask questions later and a little judge and jury unless only members can see the post i think its no good. :twocents:
-
Who is talking about shoot first? How about a good old fashioned @$$ whoopin
-
Makes a guy feel like setting up a "bait" car at trail heads or somewhere, film them, stop them (without shooting) by being close by and walking right up while filming.

-
:bash: in this case who cares about perception...
-
You don't care about how hunters are perceived ?
-
Hang on! My fault here. I added the shootin guys just to show frustration and maybe in the movies if you caught them you would mow em down! But! Had I caught them in the act and they booked off and had I been armed, believe me I would have laid some serious lead over their heads. I aint gonna shoot somebody over a property crime and I hope everyone else on here wouldnt either.
-
Not to be a stick-in-the-mud but I would surely think twice about discharging a weapon in a campground to teach somebody a lesson, self defense you bet go for it but if you fire a weapon in a no discharge area you're going to jail. Trust me on that.
A good ass whooping is the best retaliation for thievery. I'm still for cutting hands off for thievery but most think it's outdated.
-
This might get you in trouble but it works :chuckle:
-
Whoa nelly! Great idea! :whoo: :whoo:

Kinda weird driving through this morning. Lots of hoodies walking around probably going to work.
