So I got this buck Sept 2nd 2012 in washington. In an area where they all have blacktail tails but seem to all be benchlegs. For some reason today I decided to throw a tape on it which I never done before on any deer. I been using the https://www.boone-crockett.org scoring worksheet. Where I'm a little confused is the location on the g2's on the right and left side. Last two pictures I added a label on what I think is the g2. Please let me know if I'm right or wrong please. If I am wrong please point me in the right direction thank you

Beauty of a buck
-
Thanks but that link shows a straight forward 4x4 on top. Since mines a 5x5 on top I'm confused on which one is the abnormal point which one is the g2.
-
g1 is brow tine if there is no brow tine there is no g1.next is g2.
-
hope this helps.
-
But which point is the abnormal point on the right side to me it looks like the rear 10 inch point would be abnormal.
-
hows this?
-
I get all of that those are 4x4 and straight forward mine is an inline 5x5 one of those points has to be an abnormal point from my under standing. Both sides grow differently based on where they fork so I'm confused on which on on the right side would be considered the abnormal inline. I don't think it makes a difference on a gross score but for a net score I believe it make a big difference on this buck and thanks for you help and replies

Nets are for fish.😉

Ok I found attachment one which I think shows me my thinking on the abnormal point is right. Attachment two and three is what i came up with i suppose I should of just went hunting today. Instead I messed around with this and making bear jerky. Thanks for your help guys much appreciated.
-
How did the jerky turn out?
-
Oh great made about 15 pounds worth ate 2 or 3 now lol. One bad thing about jerky is just can't stop.
-
yep,Seems the bear jerky only last about 1/4 as long as the deer and elk around my house only thing is i make about 3 times the jerky with bear

Now that you and your buddy point it out it's totally obvious! Thanks quick remeasure yielded 180 typical and 215 Non typical.
-
I know I know I lied 102 typical and 133 non typical

That is a great rack!

I'm looking at your antlers and I think you are a little on the low side. I'm not sure how you measured or how you added it all up and with out seeing the actual antlers, mass, and spread it is hard to tell for sure. But by looking at the size of the scull plate and the antlers, I would have guessed the bucks gross would have been in the mid 140's to 150's. But then again, its hard to judge size and mass without actually seeing it. Do any other guys here on the forum think it might look bigger than 130 gross? Its a nice buck in anyone's eyes!!

After looking at his score sheet again and you add up the final score with the deductions it is probably correct. it would be 130+14=144. So 144 gross.
