Title: Tikka? Why the excitement?
Post by: thinkingman on September 24, 2018, 11:30:38 AM: I don't know why people get all excited about Tikka rifles.
I just did my annual T3 7mm-08 one-shot-before-deer-season and, once again, a perfect 2" high bull at 100yds.
Boring.
I did pull out the Tikka 300WSM, with the cheap original Tikka scope mounts and the Burris FFII that's been on it for 13 years.
I dread shooting that thing off the bench, it's just a violent 6.5lb rifle with 180gr cheap Federal bluebox ammo.
3 shot group 2" high at 100yds, sub-moa.
Boring.
Glad it's so light and easy to carry for hours, otherwise I'd be excited over how to spend $100s trying to lose a half-pound.

Missed a bear 6 times at 40 yards. Went and checked my zero. 14” high at 50 yards

I've learned from experience that my group sizes always seem to diminish after the first shot.

The first, cold-bore shot is the money shot.
This isn't a bench rifle.
I did eagle the first hole on a golf course one time.
I should have quit then and shot 2 under for the day.
I'll post a pic of the 7mm-08 3-rd group.

I should have quit then and called it good, but forced myself to splash a handful of jugs and ring the gong a couple more times. Boring.
