I have drawn one of the two cow master hunter pumice plains hunt nov 3rd. I am trying to get the 2nd persons name, phone ,email. We may be able to work together on this hunt. being a tough entry this may be the best way in. If anyone knows how to get this info would be greatly appreciated. I have filled out a public record request threw the game dept. but they say they cant give out any of this info for some reason?
thank you JOE

Congrats, that's a great hunt.

I drew it a few years ago. fairly easy meat hunt. Hardest part was packing it out. We brought a pair of hip waders and crossed the Toutlle river. I would recommend bringing as many people that will make it possible to pack it out in one trip. I had one friend and we made two trips.

Was at the end of the 3000 rd. yesterday, looks to be a pretty good entry unless snow hits. Did you cross river at the hummocks trail on your hunt? and was it in the nov hunt. I am just wondering how fast river crossing was for ya, thinking about packing a raft to rivers edge. Thanks for the help

I helped a buddy with a mudflow tag a few years ago. Unless something changed, you should be able to buy a permit to get in on the plains side of the river? I think was Weyerhouser? Hopefully someone more knowledgeable can chime in, but I do recall there was a access permit you could get for that side.
If you can get it, GET IT. Pretty steep on the 3000rd side in some spots and why haul the extra distance. Also just never know how the river is going to be running.
Good luck on your hunt!

Unless you get a lot of early snow the 216G trail off the Weyerhaeuser road is an easy entry. And you can camp in the DNR land by Castle Lake if you so desire.

Yes we crossed at/from the Hummocks trail. It was Oct 17 hunt for me. Not sure what the river is like in November. 3000 line is another option a little more steep getting in and out of but doable.

Ok thanks for all you impute, yes the 216g trail will be second option if river is blown out. Thanks people.

I glasses the pumice plain yesterday. I am so jealous. Elk everywhere.

I had the October tag in ‘09 or ‘10 accessed from the hummocks trail, used chest waders to cross the Toutle. Tough pack out for sure. Closest place I could find to camp from that side was 19 mile house, Kid Valley Campground.
A guy I talked to said you could access the area from above spirit lake.
Fun hunt, good luck!

I’ve been on this hunt twice, once to pack and once with the tag.
Next time i have this tag I’ll play the weather because both times it was absolutely miserable and wading the blown out river at dark with 100 pounds on your back is something i don’t want to do again.

Hey duckboy 23
Are you sure your buddy has the 2710 nov 3rd pumice plain permit? Game dept. sent me different name. Says his name is Patrick is this you buddy's name? If it is hell ya lets hook up I got no problem helping out and packing out. I will have a few buddy's helping as well. PM me with your email or phone will give ya a shout.

My brother in law has a tag. I think that's who Duckboy23 is talking about. I think his tag is earlier.
-
Htnfsh is correct. My buddies tag is the earlier master hunter cow tag. But still should be able.to.get plenty of info on bulls if you need it!

Dont over think or over plan. If you set foot in Pumice Plains you will kill an elk. Easiest way in and out are the areas you need to research.

Depends on how much time you have. Last time i was there it was a one day deal. Nothing but bulls in the hunting area. But yes, lots of elk.
