Title: Farmed Island Tour Oct 6th Fir Island Boat launch Skagit county
Post by: Special T on September 27, 2018, 03:49:35 PM
I found this event on the FB page and copied it here. A good way to check out the Island if you have never been. scouting is always easier when you can ask questions and walk around in the daylight to know where your options are.

Northwest Washington Waterfowl Association

Were on tour again this year!
Saturday, October 6th
Don’t know where to hunt or always wanted the hunt this unit but don’t know how. This is a fun opportunity to take a relaxing boat ride on the south fork of the Skagit River and met up with members of the WDFW. Each year the WDFW plants Waterfowl Forage Crops on the Farmed Island unit of the Skagit Wildlife Area. We will boat over to the unit and explore the island. WDFW personnel will provide the participants with information on the type and location of crops planted this year as well as the strategy for determining the types of crops planted each year. We will also walk out to some of the many Blinds that are constructed by the WDFW. So if you’re a waterfowl hunter, bird watcher or outdoor explorer, this is a cool place to check out.
Bring your family, boat and a back anchor or just catch a boat ride. We will meet at the Wildlife Area HQ’s Boat Launch at the end of Wylie Rd. just west of Conway at 10:00 am on Saturday, Oct, 6th.
See you there!

Ya let’s just show more people who don’t have a clue about duck hunting how to come crowd into a already crowded place to hunt!! That area took a dive about 4 years ago due to social media!! How great the internet has been to hunting spots!!!

I joined the WWA NW chapter because they are always having speakers and doing hands on projects in the Skagit Valley. Building blinds, Putting on Youth Hunts, Doing clean ups... and TEACHING people more about duck hunting. I dont like it anymore than the next guy when my spot becomes more popular. What I hate worse is when some one sets up in my back pocket because they dont know enough about the area.

Next Meeting is Tuesday Conway Firehall and we have a speaker...Rob Wingard whom is a Bio and supports the Feel Free to hunt & hunt by reservation program. 7pm

I'll be there tomorrow, good organization that actually accomplishes quite a bit with very modest annual membership fees.
