Picked up a new tikka t3x last week shot it yesterday did a cleaning before i took it to the range. Was cleaning it this morning I see rust in the rifling. Never had a tikka only shot 9 rounds thru it brand new rifle. Looks as if they shot it from the factory left it dirty rust in the rifling. Was cleaning it with sore butchs bore shine and the patch was red. Not good! Was wondering if any one else had this problem before rust leads to pitting is my concern if it’s been that way for a while not good! I will try a bronze brush maybe it will come out I would expect more from a 600.00 dollar rifle. I usually check borecondition but this rifle was brand new never ran into that before. Makes me want to return it but they probably won’t do anything about it.

Unsolicited advice!! But, I’d try contacting Beretta. I went through two 270 WSM’s with improper headspace dimensions in the rifles themselves- first one was purchased at a warehouse store, and the second was a replacement from Beretta NA. Received the 3rd rifle (2nd warranty replacement) in a different caliber and sold it on GB.

at a minimum poke a borescope in it to check to see if any pitting. Or you could firelap it and polish the lands and grooves out. I'd start with a borescope to see what I had.

Make sure what you are seeing is not just copper fouling. It does not take many shots to leave copper deposits in the barrel. Try using a cleaner which is explicitly designed to remove copper fouling. If it turns blue, it's probably copper, not rust.

Every new rifle ive bought recently has had quite a bit of copper fouling at the muzzle from factory test firing. It will accumulate at the muzzle quicker than the rest of the barrel.

I highly doubt it's rust, it's copper fouling. if you wanna remove it, you can use copper remover and it'll get the job done. But make sure you don't let the solvent sit in your barrel for a long time, it should say on the bottle how long it should be kept.
IMHO tho, it's not something to be worried about. Just keep shooting.

Yeh a patch was coming out red I used butchs bore shine. But it was at the muzzle end. I ran butchs bore shine thru it. Used some hopped solvent as well. Took a bronze brush with a clp and ran it down the bore a few times then ran a nylon brush with clp. There may be a little copper fouling but usually with butchs bore shine it comes out blue I have some Barnes copper remover I may try in the future. The bronze brush with clp seemed to remove it. The gun was bone dry I keep my rifle oiled up to prevent rust. I’m going to shoot it again before I hit the woods on Friday. Just to make sure everything’s good don’t see any pitting in there.
