I'll bet it didn't sound long distance. Those bulls make some serious racket:yeah: I watched two bulls getting after it some years back from about 30 yards, there is no way to accurately describe the sound and fury.

I recall showing Idabooner one, and along side of it was a huge pumpkin pine. In it was a tine shoved into the treeabout 6-7 inches and broke off. Can you imgine the force necessary to shove a tine into a tree that far and then break it off?

So impressive that deer and elk will fight hard enough to break their beams.The antler my buddy is holding in that pic didn't break off at the base, it has skull and hair attached to it. :o

Yeah I remember that story when you posted it. Kind of surprised it doesn’t happen more often based on height of elk pedicles
