I just drove from Pateros to Wenatchee, it was fun seeing all the hunting rigs and camps headed north.
-
I wonder what they are headed to to

Started hearing shooting about an hour before daylight around here this morning. Happens every year.
-
Thats frustrating! :bash:
-
Too bad about the pre shooting light tools. It’s a long season and plenty of deer; no need for that kind of stuff.
-

If it's to the Methow I would say the scenery, haven't heard a shot all morning. Use to be able to tell it was opening day, not today. Good Luck..
-
I dont even find it scenic anymore, at least not compared to a decade ago
-
Good luck to you all. I won't be part of it this year unfortunately. Luckily I made it through open heart surgery so I should be back out next year.

I was up in the Taneum yesterday, day before the opener. Wandering around hunting some grouse. I could not believe how much target practice was going on all around me. Along with the loud music being blasted and the smell of campfires. I jumped deer consistently most all of September, but not yesterday. I ran across one camp around 3 pm with four guys already drunk with no idea they were the only ones that appreciate a bonfire nearly out of control.
God bless you all, and I look forward to the reports of crappy hunting. At least Big Sky Orchards still had some decent peaches to pick up on the way home.

No bucks today hunting back side of 49 degree north nothing but did find my first moose shed went over to the huckleberry side got into some muleys just couldn't put any antlers on any of them back at it tomorrow

I did the 667 unit today:
Two does, one grouse, one 2pt, and a lot of folks just driving around in those fiat pickup trucks.
Next weekend is only 7 days away!

We hunted a unit over from you but only the evening. Not very many folks but those that did show only got out of their rigs to take a keak. In the last hour of daylight we saw 4 does and 6 small bucks in one isolated spot. Might hold off until the last week or so.
-
Good luck to you and your daughter Polar Bear. I'm betting you're going to score that trophy four-point this year.
-
Thanks man! It’s been a really rough year and hunting has been the last thing on our minds until 2 days ago. This year we are determined to get her that big buck in honor of my Dad who passed last month. Still having trouble getting in the mood to hunt but by the end of the month we will be hard at it. Hope you have an awesome season!!
-
Very sorry to hear about your father passing. That would certainly put a dent in anyone's passion for their favorite activities. My thoughts are with you. Hope you let the air out of a masher so you can dedicate it in your dad's memory.
I tagged out in an unfortunate case of mistaken identity earlier in the month. A decent buck, but not what I was hoping for at the start of the season. I should have 35 - 40 pounds of teriyaki pepperoni plus around 20 pounds of prime steak cuts back from the butcher in about 10 days. For the time being, I'm living vicariously on the hunting stories posted by others here. Still hoping for another couple shooters tomorrow. (Come on guys!)
-
Thank you! At least you connected. I put 600 pounds of grade a prime beef in my freezer thie spring. Best steer I ever raised. Any deer will be a bonus for sausage and pepperoni. We should be out hunting but blue bird skies are not my favorite. Going to hit it late this evening. You never know.

We all know that stinking whitetails deep in the rut make better pep sticks ;)
