654, Mashel Unit
-
Hi im a new hunter and i was gonna give this gmu a try this weekend this closer to eatonville or ashford.
-
Right outside of Eatonville, but it's on Hancock land, which requires a pass. I've hunted all over 654, up by Ashford is good too. Good luck. Another good place is between Elbe and Morton, right side of the highway is Skookumchuck unit, there is some good looking walk in area there.

That is a nice buck, congrats!

Good work , Yager!

Good job old man!
-
Way to go old buddy! I remember your 1st one in that unit. Do you?
-
Thanks man, yes I remember it like it was yesterday. Poor little Buck !! Funny, I shot this buck, and me and Trent were takin pictures and high giving, and after about 15 minutes, another 2 point runs past us. His rifle was in the truck, so I gave him mine, no clip in it, I had unloaded and put it in my pack. So we got the clip out, and he took off running. Reminds me of somebody....when he was younger. Man, I used to get wound up!! He was gone for an hour, he saw the buck 2 more times but couldn't get a shot. Good times!

Hope I never reach a point in this life where I don't get "wound up" some while in the woods. Can't imagine how bad that would suck...If you have any pics of that 1st "giant" you should dig em up and post em up.

Can i hunt scott turner road with out a permit from Hancock
-
Yes, you can hunt on the State land , basically, when you get to the end of Scott Turner road, where the Paved road ends, that's where the state land starts. You do need a discover pass.

After I shot that buck, my knees were knocking together, and I had to set my rifle down cause I thought I was going to drop it. I am just a little calmer when I shoot now, but I sure was shaking after I shot him.
