Howdy,
I am looking to see if there is anyone that would like to help me fill my non- resident black bear tag.
I just moved here on Oct. 1 and have been out 2 weekends. Been scouting and using OnXmaps and have found some bear sign, but would really like to go out with a local.
I live in the Bellingham area and willing to drive 3-4 hours and willing to do backcountry or just a day hunt.
If we get a bear, you can have all of the meat.
33 year old male from the Midwest. I am pretty flexible with my weekends as i work mon. to fri.
Appreciate your time!

Have you never eaten bear meat? Its excellent.

I've never had bear meat and would like to try it someday, i was just trying to sweeten the pot for someone to want to take me out.
-
Maybe offer half.

If you dont get any help, Bellingham is a pretty good place to start. Theres some good country up there mount Baker forest. Pretty country. Read some of the old bear threads on here for a couple general areas pretty close to where u live.

Thanks, Eric. I've been going out on public, walking logging roads, finding some clear cuts and doing some fawn in distress calls. It would be nice to find a partner who knows the areas better than i do.

There's a loop road up there somewhere cant remember the name. It's a good road to hunt off of. I'll try to remember.i haven't been up there in a few years but there are a few guys on here that live up there. Look up the older bear posts. Other thing is mid October. Bears might be tougher to find. Good luck and have fun

Best bear hunting I know about in western Washington is the North Cascades, right near you. I’d stick to roads off hwy 20 corridor or Mt Baker Hwy. no need for you to go far, just need to get lucky this time of year, Bears are starting to slow down as it cools off in the high country.
I would love to go out with you but I live farther south now and have a pretty full schedule this time of year.

Thanks, guys. i really appreciate the feedback!

Almost 400 views and no one wants to go bear hunting with me?!
I'm also down for a beer, as I don't have any friends, being I just moved here.

If ya don't want the meat, why kill the animal.
-
That season is getting close to over isn’t it.?

Dude, I'd have a beer with you. Welcome to the forum. There's a great place right around the corner here. Directions: Drive 6 hours south on I-5 and take a left on SR 500. I'll meet you at Northwest Liquid Gold. 530?

I was trying to give someone an incentive to come with me. I was hoping to learn some new things, meet someone new, have an adventure, find an animal, take a good shot, dress a bear for the first time, basically all the reasons we hunt and gift someone else the meat. Is there a problem with donating the meat to someone who would have helped me? I don't think so.

hahah give me a few months. I still haven't met anyone in the Bellingham area. If it comes down to driving 6 hours for some male companionship (just me and my girlfriend here) i will crush beers, bud.

Just so you know, I'm having a couple of chefs over this afternoon for free caviar, bourbon, and cigars. You've still got time!

Predator management is essential in this state. And, he's talking about making sure the meat is used - no wastage. Save a fawn, kill a bear.

Love it, man. I appreciate the invite. I've got some kind of farmers market trip with the lady today. I am all about the bourbon and cigars though. I just picked up a 1.75 of Bulleit from Cosco yesterday. Had to treat myself to the big bottle after not filling my out of state bear tag.....
-
Have fun at the market. That sounds like a treat compared to free caviar, cigars, and bourbon! :chuckle: When you are down this way, shoot me a line. I'd love to meet you. Bring the wife. We can go to a farmer's market. Not!
