Ive hunted ducks out of one in another state. Anybody here? Kinda fun to sit in with the dekes. Less work than a duck boat. Post pics of your set up if ya got em :hello:

I've heard a lot about them and would imagine they work great in a very specific st of circumstances. Better make sure your waders dont leak...

That is how I starting hunting sea ducks on kodiak island. I would set decoys and retrieve ducks with it until I got a dog. Fun times!!

It is an awesome experience hunting deep flooded timber sitting smack dab in the middle of a small set of decoys and having the birds flutter down and try to land on your head!

Breaking up developing sheet ice with a shotgun stock did make me rethink tube duck hunting. Makes for a scary morning . :bdid:

Hunting from a float tube, (like fishing from one,) gives you a whole new perspective of what's happening around you. (You will find yourself questioning whether the other hunters realize it's you floating close to the flock that just landed inside your Decoy's, hoping they won't start shooting in your direction.)
I would camouflage out my bright Red homemade (School Bus Tire) Float Tube using burlap sacks sewn together for Waterfowl Season
Worked great for Hunting the larger Seep Lakes and Lower Crab Creek below O'Sullivan Dam. Came in handy too, ferrying our buddy's wearing tennis shoes, across the creek. :chuckle:

When I first hunted the OR coast in 1986, the dune lakes looked very intriguing. I had no boat or dog so rigged an innertube up with some straps and wore my wetsuit bottoms with fins. The ducks didn't have a clue and the otters found me amusing enough to come within two feet of me.

I used to use one for some ponds I would hike into. I would inflate it after I would pack in. Then I brought a fishing rod and learned how to retrieve my decoys and ducks with the rod setup. I did that for about 8 years until they re-zoned the area and we could no longer hunt it.

I use one for placing/retrieving decoys in a few spots I hunt. It has been years since I actually hunted out of one though. It was an interesting experience. It was fun being right in the spread and having birds right on top of me. It also made me nervous to have my gun just resting across the tube while I handled decoys, picked up birds, etc. I constantly felt like I was going to drop it. I also remember a hunt in Snoqualmie Valley when it was flooded. I thought I would paddle out to an Island of trees and set up for a hunt. Once I got there it was like a horror movie. Thousands of spiders were using the trees as a lifeline from the flood water. They quickly adopted me as a life raft as well. My skin still crawls when I think about that. The other drawback from hunting out of one is you are guaranteed to have to pee after being in the water for a while. Depending how far dry land is, it can be quite an ordeal.
