lets see them deny this one!

I bet it's the same critter my buddy saw last night. Same spot!
-
We came across it as well earlier this evening coming down.
-
There are no wolves. Simply coyotes :mgun:
-
if it has a collar you are supposed to shoot it. ok maybe not according to the law or the tree huggers.
-
Where is Evan's creek?

Where is Evan's creek?
W NW side of Mt. Rainier NP. East of Eatonville, South of Enumclaw. There's an ORV park down there that is pretty popular. I'm assuming these reports were near there.
-
Is it normal for it to be so tame? It looks like it was just sitting in the road feet away from people driving by without any fear.
-
I knew of a couple people in that area that had wolves for "pets". Rumor has it they released them.

They don’t get skiddish until people start shooting at them. Once a season is open for them we’ll never see them again.
-
:yeah:
Or they were just dumped of by the conservation crew, fully sanctioned no doubt by the WDFW.

I know a guy who has a dog/wolf hybrid and that's exactly what that thing looks and acts like.

and a video of it

Something just looks off to me... idk I feel like if you were that close you wouldn’t have to question a very large gps/tile collar with a larger battery pack for a regular collar. I also notice that his back/rump is really flat like an overfed pet? Idk could be a wolf just fishy

That's what I was trying to remember. It was like fifteen years ago someone up there got in trouble for having pet wolves and I always heard there were more folks back there with them. Be they from that stock or wolves moving into the area on their own I'm not surprised.

I agree. It looks a lot like a wolf and the collar is weird, but he sure is fed well. How about this one.

Looks like a dog collar, also I believe “and may be incorrect “ that the tracking collars are usually just a plain, leather colored, wide collar

That’s what it was was. Plain leather collar with a big box on it. That’s what we saw.

According to the OP on FB, the WDFW confirmed it is a wolf.

Interesting
-
To many people in them woods around there with guns it won't last. :mgun:
-
WDFW is living up to their name, Washington Department of Friendly Wolves.
I wouldn't be surprised if your states game department is running an undercover operation similar to what is happening over in China with the Panda's.
Maybe the state is bottle feeding pups with the help of CNW and other wolf hugger organizations.
-
By the pics sure does look chubby maybe there's a bowl with dog food around there.
-

Interesting
Can you link to that? I dig through it and never found anything that stated WDFW affirmed this was a wolf.
-
I’ve heard rumors of people dumping their wolf type dogs up there due to biting or killing other pets... sure is an easy area to drive up to and do such a thing. I don’t think it’s a true wolf probably was someone’s pet that got a little too wild on them. Too much woods for it to keep staying near where it knows there are people/ rig noises.

For clarification. An unnamed game warden at a coffee stand said they know about this animal up there. Nobody actually “confirmed” it was a wild wolf. The warden was apparently wanting to talk to the guys who video’d the animal. Nobody from WDFW who would or should be “confirming” the animal is a wild wolf has confirmed. And nobody who would or should be confirming the possible wolf knows who talked to the guy.

:yeah:
It hasn't bee confirmed.

The gal at the coffee stand told the guy in that FB thread. Nobody from WDFW has talked to anyone who was directly involved with seeing this wolf/dog/animal.
As a WDFW biologist puts it, it’s turned into a bad game of telephone.

OK,
I think I get it,
the coffee gal over heard a state employee and then told her boyfriends aunt who told her mailman who called Jerry Springer who confirmed the whole thing...… Am I close??

I know 2 bio that are helping with the investigation of the hybrids being dumped and it's for sure a real thing whether this is or not looks like it to me but the butt looks funny , I'm sure being elk season it won't last someone will make a mistake thinking it's a coyote , but I wonder if a wild dog hybrid thing is actually protected?
