6.5 creeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeedmore :chuckle:
Left is the 7mm Empire 8)
Negative to both
-
The one on the right is obviously somebody's answer to all those guys how complain about neck length. :chuckle: You could seat a crossbow bolt in that one and still stay above the neck/shoulder junction! It kind of looks like what you'd get if you tried to form 30 BR brass from a full length 30-06
The other one is just a nightmare. Imagine trying to adjust your shoulder bump for 5 shoulders!
-
#1-300 Humpty dumpty dumpty dumpty dump.
#2-338 Loooooong.

Was a little tricky with no reference to size😊

Some of these will be fairly easy and some maybe not quite so much. Some, are wildcats, but non of them are exotic wildcats.

Some hints for #2, 3, and 4.
#2 is a standard cartridge, and was once very popular among benchrest shooters, Walt Berger among them.
#3 is a very popular wildcat off of one of the most produced cartridges in America.
#4 is a necked down version of a cartridge that they actually changed the name of because the early guns chambered in this particular cartridge didn't have a fast enough twist for some of the ammo being shot in it and it shot poorly so they re-released it with a different name and in guns with the appropriate twist rate.

One of them that I thought would be the easiest, kind of turned out to be one of the hardest.
1) 17 Hornady Hornet
2) 222 Remington
3) 223 Ack Imp
4) 22-6mm Rem. also known as a TTH or Texas Trophy Hunter
5) 6-284
6) 338 Lap Imp w/40 degree shoulder
-
That was a tough one. Just didn't look like .22 calibers lol
-
what gain came with the 40 deg.shoulder anyways?
-
generally capacity and bolt thrust
-
Okay, let's get this going again. These are older calibers, and should be easier, except for a couple. None are Wildcats.
-
7x61, .270 win, 303 savage, .38-55, .300 savage, .25-35 win?

Hint for #2: has a 23 degree shoulder and based on a common cartridge. The war effort thwarted the success of this round, which was way before it's time😉

I'd call. #1 a .357 Maximum and that oddball somewhere around the middle a .500 S&W.
And Bill, you too are correct👍
-
If not a 440 Cor-bon then a 429 DE, it appears to not have the majorly rebated rim of the 440?
The 500 S&W threw me, that heavy bullet (700 gr.?) deluded me.
-
440 Cor Bon is correct👍
-
3-.45-70
5-.45-90

That's what I was thinking for #7 also and my guess for #8 7x57
-
7-240 weatherby? yes
-
8-257 roberts
-
I’ll give on #5, .375 Gibbs, it is an obscure cartridge based on Rocky Gibbs’ creations, same shoulder and blown out profile. From what I have found it was an idea he had but I am unsure if he ever built one. This one was done by Dale Storey of DGS, Inc. There is very little information on this out there and almost all you find on the Googler nowadays is the long range, Cheytac based cartridge of the same name.
Great little cartridge with near H&H velocities, formed from 35 Whelen brass.
-
That was a tough one for sure!
