Had this Knight Bighorn .50 given to me....First muzzleloader ever in my hands! 2 questions: Are they ambidextrous, so I shoot left handed but use right hand bolt action rifles, similar or need to go correct left/right? Is this a 209 primer breach plug? (Forgive me if my terminology is wrong!)

Great muzzy same one my daughter shoots.
No not 209 that is percussion cap nipple
Yes shoots right and left handed
-
Great rifle, I have 2, son has (had) 1
That is a musket cap nipple
Mine has killed 2 elk, son's has killed 2 deer.
They work great.
Can be converted to 209 if wanted (but not needed)

Here’s what you want for musket caps.
-
Here is the powder and caps that were with it. The reason I asked about 209 was I couldn’t get these caps in. Are they incorrect or am I not smart enough to figure it out lol?

Sorry here is pic!

Those are #11 caps. Only ones I use. Not worth switching to musket caps or 209s to me. Those are an excellent, hot shooting water proof cap.

That's all I use as well and never had an issue

All you need to do is change the nipple to a #11
-
So the current nipple is a #10 or?

current is a musket nipple

I sent a PDF owners manual to the OP, thought I would post where I found it. Covers most models 2011 and older.

Thanks for the PDF and all the info.....Still having issues tho, with the correct caps this time the striker/firing pin isn't even hitting primer/cap?? Can't figure out why?
-
@Sabotloader there was a thread about that very thing awhile back and I believe it has something to do with a nipple issue from the factory and on the bolt face take a look is it rounded or does it have a point?
-
The firing pin? It is pointed....
-
Is the secondary safety off? (all the way unscrewed)
It is the small knurled knob at the back end of the firing pin. It shows red when it is unscrewed
-
Yes it is....
