I'm looking at 08 f150 with a 4.6 liter v8 any opinions? Issues?

4.6 is a dependable workhorse of a motor. By 08 they had the cylinder heads pretty solid in the modular series motor.
I prefer the 5.4 for towing reasons, but the 4.6 can hold it's own.
Same motor they use in crown vic's, which see severe use and tons of miles in the bigger cities as taxi cabs.

Had one in my '04 F150 and the thing was bullet proof. Loved that little truck but my 26' travel travel was just a little too much for it. Had over 140k miles on it when I traded it in. Not sure about the 08s but spark plugs were a real PITA. I took it to the shop to have plugs changed. Good engine!

There is no replacement for displacement......... :twocents:

My 2010 was a powerless, overheating, non towing nice truck. It derated while towing my trailer near Almira. Had to pull over several times to let her rest to be able to carry on. NOT recommended for towing heavy stuff. Maybe up to 5000 lbs if that.

I have the 08 4.6 Mileage is around 14 mph. When I moved here I towed my fishing boat loaded with fishing / hunting stuff. Thought I needed to get out and help push going over Lookout pass. LOL. I would look towards a 5.4 :twocents:

Better choice. I had the 5.4 and what a difference.
