WASHINGTON (AP) — President Donald Trump says he is nominating a former executive at agribusiness giant Monsanto to head the Fish and Wildlife Service.
Aurelia Skipwith of Indiana is currently deputy assistant Interior secretary for fish, wildlife and parks.
A biologist and lawyer, Skipwith spent more than six years at Monsanto and has worked at the Agriculture Department and U.S. Agency for International Development.

If confirmed by the Senate, Skipwith would be the first African-American to head the wildlife agency, which has 9,000 employees and a $2.8 billion annual budget.
The Fish and Wildlife Service has been without a Senate-confirmed director since Trump took office in January 2017.
Greg Sheehan, a former Utah official who served as deputy director for 14 months, stepped down in August. Under Sheehan's tenure as the agency's senior political official, the Fish and Wildlife Service proposed broad changes to rules governing protections for thousands of species and pushed for more hunting and fishing on federal lands.
The agency moved recently to end a longstanding practice that automatically gave the same protections to threatened species as it gives to more critically endangered species. The proposal also limits habitat safeguards meant to shield recovering species from harm and requires consideration of the economic impacts of protecting an imperiled species.
The changes have alarmed wildlife advocates who fear a weakening of the Endangered Species Act, the landmark law that has been used to save species as diverse as the bald eagle and the American alligator. The proposals were cheered by Republican lawmakers and others who say the endangered species law has been misused to block economic development and needs reform.
Interior Secretary Ryan Zinke tried to make Sheehan acting director, but Sheehan was barred from that role because he did not have a required science degree.
Skipwith has been at Interior since April 2017. She helps oversee policy planning and regulatory actions for the wildlife agency and the National Park Service.
She said in a statement that she shares Zinke's goals to "protect our species, increase public access and ensure science is at the forefront of our decisions."
Chris Saeger, executive director of the liberal, Montana-based Western Values Project, called Skipwith "a darling of corporate special interests" and said her nomination was "business as usual for an administration that has sought to reward its allies at the expense of public lands and wildlife."

If the fake environmentalists don't like her, it is a good sign, she might turn the corruption around.
Open season on the fake endangered wolves the USFWS and state game agencies release and protect above all else.

Oh boy, Democrats will probably say she raped a cow or something :chuckle:

She sure doesn't look like the typical hunter or fisherman that I run into.I say she is another corporate goon put in place to help the agenda of stealing public lands.

I don't know anything about her one way or the other, but I don't think SCI or B&C would endorse someone who wants to gut public lands :dunno:
-
So who is pushing for the sale of public lands?

So who is pushing for the sale of public lands?
That's a good question. Other than some threats I've not seen it happen. Threats, but he often backs off, its his process of making a deal I guess.
Obama had a lot of federal lands locked up tight, Trump's eased those restrictions and everyone freaks out saying he wants to privatize public lands, but none of that has happened (nor will it)

Snort.
She sounds well-qualified. Hopefully she is on board with MAGA, which, to me, includes sound public management of public resources for all users. I'll hold off on the witch hunt.
-
It sounds like she's free of personal agenda's, thus she's free to pursue her boss's agenda :chuckle:

So who is pushing for the sale of public lands?
people that fought against Trump from the GOP that's who,One huge one is none other than TED CRUZ.Realize how hard it is to find public land to hunt in Texas. :bash:
-
Texas has been that way since loooooong before Cruz :chuckle:
That place was all private even before it joined the union!
-
Yes i know its been a long time in Texas because there were other Cruz types that Cruz followed in footsteps with.TED CRUZ HAS BEEN AND STILL IS PUSHING FOR PUBLIC LAND SALES ACROSS THE NATION.

I don't like Cruz either, especially his never trump thing almost getting hillary elected and I think even today still played a part in loosing the house to the dems. How many people perviously on the never trump train didn't bother to vote not exactly feeling energized? I think his previous never trump campeign almost cost him this election in AZ.
Ya, not a Cruz fan.. good thing he doesn't have much say with Trump who hates him too and only chums up trying to get the never trump thing ended.

:yeah:
Can't blame Cruz for that.
-
Cruz isn't the only one.Speaking of Cruz if he can't sell Texas then what is he selling.?As a hunter and a fisherman I am against anyone that wants to sell or lock me out of opportunity. It should not matter which party they belong to.

All private is a very loose statement,Cruz is still trying to sell or give away what is left public and not just in Texas. :bash: 22.5 million or so acres of public land.

Don't cloud the issue with too many facts, the fearless leader of the land thinks we are all idiots.
