Ya. Happened pretty fast. 12 yard frontal shot. Great day in the woods.
-
Great buck man, congrats! Would love to hear the story on this one. Quality tag? Rattled in?
-
General season. Scent drag and one rattling sequence. He was gonna run me over, came in looking for a confrontation.

I was trying to get the darn TimerCam app on my phone to work 😆. I was hunting solo and getting a couple decent pics is difficult.
Believe me, I was pretty jacked up.

That’s a solid buck good work. Did you shoot him from a ground blind? Just curious since you are dressed in all black

Looks great!

I’ve done my last few bucks. It takes about a week with the simmering/de-greasing and whitening. They come out pretty good.

I agree it looks great! What’s your process if you don’t mind sharing
-
- skin and flesh.
- simmer with dawn/borax powder mixture.
- remove all cooked muscle/brain and other materials.
- de-grease with dawn changing water every day for three days.
- apply volume 40 whitening paste with paint brush. Do not get any on antler bases.
- let dry. Then brush a light coat of Elmer’s glue over the entire skull. Helps with the whitening and keeps all of the fragile areas together.
-
Finally got it done on the 16th after spending countless hours sitting and walking. Walked into a clearcut and this guy stood up next to me at 50 yards.

Thanks I’ll give that a try sometime. How long do you simmer for?

4 hours
