These are crops so you can focus. My third year with this buck. Yes you could be hunting this buck, so keep dreaming! He has been in my Calendar for two years. He may make it a third. Tough competition this year, and all I got of him were pics in the fog.

I was wondering what Groucho meant till I looked at the pictures, Love the eyebrows!
-
What a dandy! At least 25" wide, good mass, and a survivor.
-
I have no idea how he has survived the hunting and poaching pressure.
-
 Very cool! So how old do yo believe he is?
-
Super cool! Interesting how the rack seemed to clean up and lose a lot of the extra points in 2017 but they came back with a vengeance in 18. (Not speculating its a different buck, it is definitely still him.) Is this a common thing? Any idea what might make that happen?
-
I thought he was old the first time I saw him. I posted a topic on here how this was a world class buck. I got shredded. He was tucked under a tree with a doe in the pouring rain and to me looked like an old monarch. His extras etc. I look over a lot of bucks, some of them even big, lol, and this guy just did it for me. Funny how some are more interesting than others.

Check out his little dropper. Lol. I hear ya! It’s why I thought I’d share. If people like this sort of thing. I figured he was just going downhill then it was like he relapsed on roids.
-
Awesome Bone! Beautiful Buck!
-
THAT is a cool buck!! Wow!
-
Not often you can use "brow" and "browtine" in the same sentence. :chuckle:

I remember that thread. Was an awesome buck then still is now. Character counts!
-
Sometimes it’s hard to know the age of a deer when they never really get bigger. The 2 sheds are the same buck, the antler on the right is from 2013 and the other is from 2015. Some deer just don’t grow. I understand you can gage there age off body weight, swayed back etc. just thought I would share this 3 years of antler growth.
-
That's a beautiful animal Bone thanks for sharing
-
great pics nice to see old bucks like that
-
Love those eye brows.
Glad he's still walking.
-
Thank you! He is still getting it done. Had the biggest harem I think I have seen this year.
-
Outstanding.
-
Love those eye brows.
Glad he's still walking.
:yeah: one of my fave boneaddict bucks! Thanks for the pic history, very cool!
-
Thank you Kellama. I’m pretty sure he is going to be Mr. December this year, fog or not.
-

Thank you Kellama. I’m pretty sure he is going to be Mr. December this year, fog or not.
That would be awesome, I love the fog pics!
-
He’s alive! Not sure if I got a good enough pic for calendar but happy to have found him. He had moved a bit. I was about to quit looking. He is roughly near the big Wa buck, so I kept a keen eye. I’ll add pic when I get there.
-
Can’t wait to see!
-
Great news. Glad to know this old warrior is still on the prowl.
-
Can't wait to see. Is he regressing yet? He's got to be getting up there in age...
-
I thought he was regressing when i first saw him in 2016 :chuckle: Yes, Id say he is losing some, but still maintaining that 4x3 frame
-

-
That is so cool. Thanks for the pics.
-
Looks like he is using Maybelline on those eyebrows. Are you sure he identifies as a buck?
-
I wouldnt take it up with him. :chuckle:
-
That is so cool. Thanks for the pics.
Thank you. You bet.
-
Bone, you obviously know his area/home well and the deer there. Would you say he is the “man in charge” in that area or is he not the top of the pecking order
-
He has a harem. There are other bucks in the area. I haven’t seen any interaction.
-
He fits the name well. Pretty awesome you were able to track him down!
-
Awesome   I love the cape on this buck and the rack is pretty good as well :chuckle:
I would be curious to know how old this buck is. If I saw that 2016 pic I think many a hunter would have swore ( myself included) based on his headgear he was an old buck heading backwards, clearly not the case. Maybe he was wounded, or tough rut that prior winter. Would be fun to know an exact age if ever possible and educational as well. Regardless incredible animal. Thanks for sharing Bone.

With the drought year 2015 followed by the hard winter, it might make sense that he was down a little in 2016. Not knowing how old he is, he could have rutted really hard 2015 and struggled through the winter. Very glad he's still around, it's nice to see those big old survivors out kickin butt and taking names.
-
You can't forget this buck from year to year. Glad to see he's still alive, very healthy, and posing for you. Love that second photo.
-
So glad he's still alive! Thanks for sharing him with us again, he's still one of my all time favorite boneaddict bucks
-
Awesome he's still kicking and breeding! You need to find a light colored Harpo and dark colored Chico. You can ignore Zeppo.
-
Cool buck
How old do you guess him being?
-
I honestly don't have a clue. Probably 9 or 10+
He isn't going to make the Calendar so......

-
How close together have the spots you've seen him each year been?
Thanks for the consistent photos of great bucks. As a new hunter it's very cool to see what else is out there besides the dinky 3 point I shot this year.
-
He has a core area that’s pretty tight.

Thanks. I hope you run into him again soon.
-
Thank you. I’m probably done for now there. I tried again yesterday but it was fogged in.
-
Love his eyebrows. Lol. And his interesting rack.

I have absolutely fantasized about his sheds. It gets pounded so I know there just has to be someone on here that has found them.
-
Got him today! No 2020, figured he was dead
-
Where is the pic??
-
:yeah:
This we must see Bone!
-
waiting for a better pic
-
Rude!
I'm sure we could settle for a sub par pic to hold us over
-
What a great buck.
-
Bone have you went after this guy during general season?
-
Oh boy! I didn't post on this one before but this is one of my favorite bucks! I'm excited to see him again!
-
waiting for a better pic
Bone, once you've located a deer, how confident are you that you'll be able to find him again a day/ week later?
-
Tease.

Whoever shredded your thread that this is a world class buck doesn't know their back side from a whole in the ground. Just look at the width and mass compared to its ears (Preaching to the choir). My understanding is that mature mule deer ears are very wide, sometime as much as 25 inches. That beast is amazing in all respects.
-
I remember the rare bashing of boneaddict! Totally uncalled for that is a amazing buck
-
Hope you get some good pic's of him!
Such a cool deer and glad he has got to spread his genes over many years and has lots of offspring running around.
-
Got him today! No 2020, figured he was dead
He must have been self quarantined lol
-
He was in quarantine today too. That SOB
-
Does he have the same characteristics just regressed more?
-
His eye guards have the gnarl, but not as pronounced from front, and he has more mass with less spread.
-
I don’t recall anything extra coming off his mains this time like in 16 and 18
-
I went after him yesterday and it was a bust. In fact the whole day was a bust. I got schooled by a big buck. I was not happy with myself. There was a smaller one with him, and I thought there was a possibility it was Groucho, but when I looked at the one pic I got in the floating second I had him in my viewfinder, it wasn’t him.
-
Are you saying Groucho was the smaller one or am I misunderstanding your post Bone? :yike:
-
Yeah, it wasn’t Groucho, but the buck I screwed up on was huge. I’m not sure if you’ve ever hunted in Russian olives, but they are a real biotch. I always preach patience to the newbs, well I lost my patience and was rewarded
-
Russian olives are a bitch. I've hunted pheasant in them around Potholes a bit.
-
I sure hope you find him again Doug! This was such a cool thread a few years back finding him after 2 years of nothing is outstanding! Good luck!!
-
I have Russian olives a hundred yds from my door. They are being spread by the birds. It's just wonderful. Lol The thorns can get hellacious in a good thicket of them! I hope you get some pics of this guy and Groucho too! Good luck!
-
The holes they crawl into would fit a pheasant. There’s.a reason they can outlive poachers, hunters, tribal harvest, four legged predators, bumpers etc. The Mrs says be home tonight, so I’ll probably pull out of the north country and get after him again Monday. Fewer duck hunters.

I'll continue to try to find him for better pics
-
So Glad you found him!!
-
That's awesome you were able to find him Bone!
-
I wish a shed collector would come knocking at my door. I’m not into buying sheds, but I would his.
-
The way that he is raising his right hind leg, it almost seems like he is giving you the finger.
"Not this year, buddy."
-
(https://hosting.photobucket.com/images/v47/boneaddict/groucho21.jpg)
-
Awesome.
-
What a cool deer and cool story. Have you burned any calories looking for his sheds? I’d pay good money to have a beer with you, look through your photos and hear the stories behind em. Thanks for sharing as always.
-
That is awesome that you have been able to find him this many years. I can't get over that! Great photo Bone!
-
Thank you! By looking at his condition, I'm guessing this will be his last.
-

I was thinking the same thing. You may well find him next year but I doubt he will be the same deer in many ways. The history is just amazing!! All these years, the stuff he has seen, the predators he has escaped the roads crossed, just crazy!! Thanks again Doug
-
He is still one of my favorite bucks of all time. So glad you found him again so we could get another look. Thank you!
-
What a life that deer has had. Many Thanks Bone for bringing us on the journey, and getting a glimpse into the life of a legend. Whatever happens, I pray to the deer gods that buck goes peacefully.
-
Somewhere in my deer shed pile in the old shop out back I have about seven years of the same whitetail and he always looked the same and got super tall for a few yrs then back down to the first few years size and stayed that way but it's bases just got fatter every year. Never actually saw the deer but his sheds were always in the same spot.
-
What a cool buck to have so much history with and thank you for sharing the ride with us.
-
Bone, if the opportunity presented, would you hunt Groucho? Being eliminated by you would be a lot quicker way to go than what nature has waiting.
-

-
So cool to see the progression over the years like that. 2016 to 2017 I wouldn't have believed it was the same buck if it weren't for those brows. He was a real specimen in his prime  hopefully his expiration this winter isn't too brutal
-
I have also enjoyed following along on this deer every year. buy your history with him and saving me doing some simple math, what is your best guess on the age of this buck?
-
Thank you! By looking at his condition, I'm guessing this will be his last.
I was thinking the same thing. What a cool story.
-
Are there other deer with less identifiable features you have a long history with like this or is it too hard to be sure year to year with most bucks?
-
This is an amazing thread. Thanks for posting all of this for us to watch him age with you.
-

It helps when they are as distinguishing as this guy. But yes there are a few. If you search “legend” on here, it chronicals one. I photographed one today right before dark that I’ve filmed a couple times the last 5 years. Pretty sure anyway.
Just determined I filmed another repeat today. It was even later than the previous one. My wife spotted it from the road. I closed the distance and snapped a couple document pics. A huge non typ buck the last two years. Same character in antlers but much smaller. (He is still a nice buck)
-
Any luck finding him this year?
-
Not yet. Fingers crossed, but I am doubtful.
-
Sorry I missed your question C. In a way I do, every year, but no probably not. I think this one is almost personal. The thrill I get or got from following him from year to year was amazing. It even inspires the Mrs, to go with me to try to find him. Don't get me wrong, I love his antlers. I'm still waiting for that shed hunter to step forward with them for me. LOL I hope I get another crack at that big one this year. Lots of tags and non tags since then, so we shall see.

He is truly special to ya after all these years...Hope you can locate those sheds!
-
I havent found him yet, nor do I hold much hope that I will. I do think however I found one of his sons....maybe his legacy continues
sorry for the documentation type photo. hopefully better ones to follow now that it is becoming daylight.

He’s got them Groucho eyebrows, what a buck!
-
What a buck!

Old bucks like that make me happy but also sad. I'm stoked he lived a full life in a merciless world but sad to think of the dead he most certainly suffered. A hunters bullet would have been much more merciful than what mother nature gave him.
