I could not believe how Huge my Bull cape was once I got it back from the Tannery. It is absolutely the biggest cape I have seen. 38 + at the ears un-streatched, will go 40 streatched!! Most big elk capes will be 32 - 34 with a few (not many) to 36 streatched. The Head is HUGE too. I cant wait to build a form to fit the hogger bull of mine. Here is a couple pics !!
The first picture is a nice bull cape @ 32 inches, it goes on a 344 bull I'll be mounting up soon.
2nd picture is my cape.

Does look huge!
-
I'm not long arming it either Bone, mynose was touching the hair in the cape ;)
-
I know, I can tell by the size of your hands. I've seen one other bull that was like that. He was the big herd bull in yellowstone for years. Huge animal. He was a little more blonde in the face, or unicolor though
-
My bull is actually pretty dark in the face, flash actually lightened it up a bit. Now I have to order the form, wait till you see this new form!!!
-
Did you actually find one that fits or are you going to have to add a bunch to it.
-
It is going to need some mods for sure. The head and neck mainly. My bull had a 13 1/4 eye to nose and you know the neck. Well the form is a 12 3/4 by 34. Shouldnt bee too bad a project though. It will be for competition, I hope to take it and a few others to the show in Kalamath Falls Oregon in June!
-
Look forward to seeing it come together.
-
I will take pictures of the process!
-
Looks like someone is going to have fun....

The bold words above, is that average ear tip to ear tip. Because if it is then maybe bone can use his spread program on the elk pic I sent him.

No. its the width of the neck right below the ears, taxi measurements for form fitment.

Jon, the Bou is going to take a bit, I had them put it through the stop rot solution to help insure it doesnt slip. I didnt like how they took care of your cape up there. They turned the lips and eyeys but left all the meat on and salted over top of everything. Not good for salting, salt has to penetrate clear through the meat to get to the hide so I took precautions and had them do this. It costs me more $ but I would rather have a good cape to work with. It is just precaution. They will put all the stop rot capes in a big vat since it is a very expensive material they use so it may be a bit before they get to it.

He's getting in all sorts of trouble today. Caribou slip very easy from what I understand, as compared to alot of the other critters (elk, deer).

So do antelope, thats why I wasnt taking a chance. I have had customers bring in deer that were 10 days old and stunk that made it through the stop rot (stop slip) solution. I did have 1 muley slip in the throat though and it went through the stop slip. It was frozen when they brought it in but the esophogus residue had leaked and puddled in the cape hich in turn will promote bacterial growth pretty quick. Slipped right in the throat patch :bash: I hate frozen capes for that reason. Need to plug the thoroat so it doesnt drain onto the cape.

That cape does look huge. :yike:Cant wait to see it finnished . Might have to buy a bigger trailer to haul it. U going to give us a idea what kind of mount you are going to do or just leave us hangin :dunno: Come on man give us something to look foward to its a long time until hunting season :bash:
