I found this report and thought it was a good read. How many of you were possibly hunting close to these bears? I know it looks like I ran a couple black bears in the area of where the Idaho bears were.

I know I was close to one this fall :chuckle:

Most certainly. I’ve ran into them both sides of Priest.

You ever get pics?

Nope. Hunting

Wow!!!, grizzlies go outside their designated areas. Who would have thought that could happen? :bash:

And just like that the grizzly bears migrated to within a few miles of Twisp WA-“This is a natural colonization,” said Fitkin. “The bears are naturally immigrating.”

I think we should "build the wall" and keep those bruins east!
-
Coming soon to your Liberty Lake trash can or Western Washington University dining hall, be careful out there
-
They follow the wolves, as I've said numerous times they're almost symbiotic with wolves. Wolves tip em over, Grizz mop em up.
-
This was taken last week near Naches, /Fifes Ridge Trail, 1902 road, by an experience hunter and friend.
-
Nice blackie?

or Horse

Extremely interesting to see their movements. That one with the yellow went by our place not that long ago. Seems he likes to swim lol!
-
Yeah, looks more like a horse shoe imprint than a grizzly track.
-
Have not seen many horses with claws way out front like that, looks like the small southeast Alaska ones I have seen. Probably only 600#, not 900
-
A friend of mine from my Mule Club posted these. Supposedly taken on the Shedroof Divide near Mankato.

What’s he in, a stock pen?
-
Cool pic.

What’s he in, a stock pen?
Pretty sure they use it for collecting hair samples.

I know where there's some old road signs full of grizz hair right here in WA. GMU 113

He might not realize how close they are, a lot of folks up there have no clue about how often they are passing through.

I didn't get the feeling it was just a passing through bear, it had been using those posts pretty regularly. They were chewed up pretty good and had old + new bite marks, scratches and just full of hair to the point the posts were almost fuzzy. All the grasses were trampled and wouldn't grow at the base of the post, just bare mud, the tracks confirmed grizz, plus I found very fresh tracks after a heavy rain that night before so the tracks were hours old.
I had a bear roar at me, very very loud, but I didn't lay eyes on it so I won't say it was a grizz roaring. It was about 75 yards away and in thick blowdown timber, our scent was wafting that direction.
I didn't see much black bear sign while in this grizz's core area.
My hunting partners were loathe to hunt there, especially after the roaring. I was probably a bit too cavalier about it in retrospect.

To not believe the griz are there full time is the equivalent to believing in the tooth fairy.
The only difference is this tooth fairy collects the whole human and doesn't leave money under the pillow.

Range much larger and numbers higher than officially reported. Increasing range and numbers throughout the northwest

Anyone know if they have been spotted as far south as Bead Lake?
-
Near there. South baldy area. We have video of one walking on LeClerc Rd on the Reservation.

I have heard the same thing.

Well if I move over there then smith and wesson will just be with me more often.

Grizz have been in 113 for years. I’ll bet they move around a lot like the ones with the GPS collars affixed.
-
Unsuccessful hunted all over them bear ranges this summer.
The last pic/bear sure didn’t want to stay away from Clark fork dam area..
-
Thanks for the collar data, the Fairchild folks might want to prep the survival classes
-
Pretty sure I seen one a few yards north of 105.
-
Any reports of them being in the Colockum?
-

They're in 105 for sure, and 111.
I also know they're in 101 but haven't seen one myself, reliable witnesses have seen them though.
I don't spend a lot of time in 117, I can't imagine them not being in 117 though. I'd be shocked if none were in 117.

Per the gps monitor there was at least one in 117 in October :chuckle:
-
Oh, well there ya go :chuckle:
-
some NE grizz sightings over the years...
- I remember when WDFW was looking for who shot a grizzly only about 10 miles north of Colville in 111, they caught the guy
- A friend had a photo that his sister took of a grizzly in the back yard of a home a little north of Deer Park in 117
- I saw two yearlings running together in 105 a few years ago
- I know of 5 grizzlies seen at one time in a field in 105 by a reliable knowledgeable source
- I was told of trail cam photos that were taken of a grizzly in 108 a few years ago
-
Any reports of them being in the Colockum?
Not that I’m aware of.
