Special thanks to Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife for being right on top of this one! :chuckle:
Happy Thanksgiving!

They investigated and concluded it is not a cougar. What are you expecting them to do?
-
bobcat?
-
It’s no wonder they don’t believe sightings. Goodness sakes
-
Maybe they should focus more time on the poaching going on in Washougal. Saw over ten carcasses last weekend. Cougars are just a natural part of living in the sticks

I don’t know, maybe conduct a multidisciplinary survey concerning the new finding of the Maine Coon - variant species of cougar recently discovered in Southwest Washington state? :chuckle:

bobcat?
:yeah:

Not saying she is from California but a lot of Californians around here , I live up above the river road and down at the bottom of the hill is our mailboxes and people sometimes post notes on the telephone pole by it ,seems to be a lot of " bear sighted in neighborhood on this date " and "bobcat sighted " type of posters . Always makes me chuckle like these people think These animals don't live here year round or something .

I have a picture of a grizzly bear out of Loomis about 25 years ago. The picture was taken to WDFW by me, in person and they said it was a black bear. Nope, it was a grizzly. Everybody I showed it to said grizzly.

Yep! Those house cats might take out an eye if your not careful :chuckle:

My question is, why would wdfw even waste resources investigating? You think you saw a cougar? Okay, cool story. This is washington, lots of cougars live here. Its what it is.

Well said. Completely agree

Not many people realize how many cougars there are. It was 2003 or 2004 when we had one in our neighborhood off of 172nd Ave near the rock quarries in East Vancouver. WDFW had a dog track it with no success, then a couple days later a homeowner a couple blocks away seen it sleeping in their apple tree. They called 911 and it was shot and killed a half mile from my house. So I'm sure they are in Washougal.

The picture won't show up very well. It's from an old 35mm film camera and it's really dark and green.
