I also book hunts for 2 Outfitters. One in Montana and one in Wyoming. My main business though is setting clients up with the diy plans. They are very detailed. Plans include topo maps marked with road side camp site, optional spike site, places where elk bed feed and travel. Hunting routes. Places to glass and call to locate elk and more. Also a set of written instructions spelling out how to effectively hunt the area. One aspect of providing plans is making sure your plan fits your goals and physical abilities as well as your style of hunting whether you are 24, 64, solo or bringing your kids. My clients do very well. Sometimes they surprise me. Don’t want to pay an outfitter every year? Have what it takes but need a place to call home? Give me a shout.

Headin West/Joe is also a sponsor over on my stinky forum, WapitiTalk.com. I've known the scoundrel (accomplished elk slayer, former successful outfitting business owner, and currently a hunt plan business owner) for a good handful of years. One thing I receive as a hunting forum owner are PMs, emails, even phone calls both positive and negative, on the sponsors I have and the services they provide (I definitely use forum member's satisfaction/dissatisfaction reports as a barometer for which sponsors I choose to continue my relationship with). I will say that in all the years Joe has been a sponsor over there, everything I have seen both in the public forum, and, via PMs/emails/phone calls, has been overwhelmingly positive. If you're looking at planning a hunt in either the Big Sky or the Cowboy state, and do not wish to merely throw a dart at the map and take your chances, it's certainly worth considering one of the Headin West hunt plans. Happy hunting! RJ
