Wow!
I've seen them at that price before,................. But never in stock!
-
They've got some killer barrel deals too. Funny you posted this since I ordered a grendel barrel yesterday. Zero past experience with them but I guess there is only one way to find out
-
They've got some positive online reviews...... :dunno:

YOLO :chuckle:

Me and a buddy both grabbed uppers a year or so ago. His shoots sub moa, mine shoots like a shotgun.
In all fairness, I've only ran 50 rounds through it. I may have a scope issue.
Their machining was done well, things looked great, and price couldnt be beat. I'll buy more from them.

thank you for the review

Fact is I'm ordering more from them right now. They advertise 1moa at 100yds on all barrels 16" and up, good way to make a cheap plinker or experiment with a new caliber right now!

they got me again. 6.5 grendel Side charge with bcg for $119. Couldn't help myself :chuckle:

And plenty of negative reviews too. They are cheap, as reflected in the price. Don't expect good quality or reliability.

do you have some hands on with any BCA stuff?

If your bear creek barrel shoots bad, CONTACT THEM. I think they have accuracy warranty on them. I saw a bur near the gas port when I got an 18" 223 barrel from them. I emailed them and they said shoot and see how it does, it shot like yours. Emailed them back after 100rnds or so of varying weights. I sent back to them and they sent me a replacement, the new barrel shoots MOA with cheapest ammo I have.

I have a 762x39 side charge upper and I built a 18" 223 upper with one of thier barrels. The 18" had issues, sent back and they replaced it, new one shoots MOA or better (only tried my junk plinking ammo with pulled bullets) The *39 upper I have only shot steel cased thru, but it was plenty accurate given it is an old school iron sight build.

I would also add they get another +1 in my book for their support of the troops. Veterans day this year they did a barrel giveaway to all active duty and veterans.
-
Slow shipping for me , ordered on the 19th shipped on the 28th. Tracking shows Wed the 5th. Parts ordered from other places, NC, showed in 3 days.

Yes, mine would be one of the negative reviews, for several reasons. I won't say negative things about a company I haven't dealt with personally.
Parts were cheaply machined and poorly deburred, quality was a good match for the cheap price but not a smoking deal as some seem to think. As a reasonably competent machinist myself, I think I'm qualified to judge machining work, and those parts were not something I'd want to put my own name on.
One of the barrels they sent was the wrong item, their fault, and it took a month and multiple phone calls for them to get around to replacing it. By that time it was out of stock, so they gave me a delayed refund and offered a 10% discount coupon, which obviously I did not bother using. To be fair, they sent a shipping label to return the wrong barrel, but waited until it arrived and logged back into their system before they would consider sending what I'd actually ordered.

good info. I'll have to give everything a solid once over when it shows up. Thank you for sharing

Most uppers will out shoot your average internet expert. At the Bear Creek price point, they are well within acceptable accuracy standards of .640 -.790 from what I have done off the bench. This was a barrel only purchase. I assembled the uppers myself.
-
Well, here's hoping their a good value.
I got the last 16" full AR in 6.5 Grendel on their promo.
I also got a 6.5 Grendel complete upper with 20" fluted barrel. Merry Christmas to me.

Run some of the factory Hornady "Black" 123gr ELD-M and let us know how it shoots.
-
I received my barrel I ordered yesterday, the machining looks a little better then the first upper I purchased.
anyone else getting their stuff in hand yet? I wont be able to swap this barrel on and do any shooting until after the holidays unfortunately
-
I got one of the free veterans barrels, it looked alright, didn’t go over it with a fine tooth comb yet.
-
Side charge upper seems well made. Grendel barrel is showing up today. Will be burning ammo in it this weekend. .223 barrel I ordered for my prairie dog setup also looks fine. It's a heavy sucker but that's what I wanted for that gun. Will also be shooting it this weekend.
-
The grendel lives. Its pieces together on another lower until I figure out exactly what stock, trigger, etc but she will shoot here very soon.
-
My fluted 20" Grendel upper came in. Machining looks fine to me. I tried to inspect carefully.
My son's complete Grendel is supposed to arrive in 4-5 days. Will be interesting to see.

Post some accuracy and functioning results from the BCA's guys. Ive looked at their Grendel stuff for a while for when i get around to building the lower i have in the safe.

can do! I was hoping to shoot today but I'm on call for work and my day keeps filling up :bash: I dont have dies or components to reload it yet so gonna burn some hornady black 123gr eldm factory through it for barrel break in.

I've brought it up to my employer that its ridiculous that I have to actually work at work but they just laughed like I was joking :dunno:

What are you doing for barrel break in?
(since I'm gonna have a couple to break in next week)
-
Nothing crazy. Put some down the pipe, hit it with some wipe out and patch till spotless. Then I'll just shoot it.
-
I've seen Karl work. He just stands around bs-ing, drinking pepshi, eating sheeds and telling hunting stories as if he was some sorta medevial knight battling dragon, trolls and goblins. True story.

REVIEW:
So, got my Bear Creek 6.5 Grendel upper and slapped some stuff on to shoot it.
Took 15 shots and had 3-4 jams, where the round remained in the chamber (not partially ejected).
Inspected the fired brass and noticed that the brass was all scarred really badly around the neck. I mean really scarred.
I'm not a machinist, but I suspect they reamed it but never polished it...... And I also wonder if this was the 500th barrel reamed with a reamer that was good for 250 barrels. Just some nasty machining marks in there.
I just E-Mailed them. Time to test their warranty.
-
My poor brass :chuckle:
Seriously though, that's a bummer. Hope they make it right.

UPDATE:
Got my BCA barrel back and put the rifle together. Put about 215 rounds through it today and am very pleased. I got sighted in and shot some groups for accuracy, and then poured a bunch through just to ensure that it was functioning. Right around 215 rounds, and zero misfires, jams or other issues.
I'm quite happy with accuracy, given the million pound factory trigger. (I have 3 LaRue triggers due Friday for my favorite ARs). I can hold 2" groups at 100 yards. I think I can do better with the LaRue trigger. I am also learning to shoot right handed due to an issue with my left eye that I've shot with forever (I am hopelessly left handed. Shooting right handed is just weird.).
So, while I did need to send the barrel in to get the chamber deburred, now that I got it back I;m really impressed to get a 6.54 Grendel with a 20" barrel that is more accurate than my eyes for under $400.
FUN RIFLE TO SHOOT!
-
Glad they made it right for you........and my brass :chuckle: trigger will make a huge difference.
-
My AR dealer in GA sold these barrels almost exclusively. I have a 7.5" that rings a 12" gong at 500 well enough :chuckle: and my buddy's all shot well.
-
Well its been awhile since any of you have posted. What are your opinions of BCA, now that you have had some time to run up the round count.
-
For the price point I've been happy with my first BCA upper in 6.5 Grendel that I picked up last year. Better than expected accuracy in the 16" barrel lightweight model upper. Granted I have an aftermarket trigger in that lower, which helps.
I opted to purchase a second upper from BCA during the black Friday sale, and it's supposed to arrive later this week. This one in 223 Wylde. The sale was so good I couldn't help myself. Hopefully it shoots as well as my other BCA upper.

I am a fan. Plain and simple.
I became an AR addict.
I now have several in 223, a couple 6.5 Grendel, one in 7.62 x 39 and a 450 Bushmaster. They are all super dependable and fun to shoot.
They are more accurate than I expected.
Have bought 5-6 for kids and wife.
No issues.
I'm super impressed with the value.
As always, 1st mod is replacing the MIL STD trigger with something way better. I've been putting in LaRue MBT triggers ($89) because I can't stomach paying much more for a trigger. They really tighten up my groups
Good luck!

Learn from me, a couple years ago I bought a bunch of Geissele two stages, and replace all my triggers. Don’t get me wrong they are fantastic trigger. Then I spent a day shooting Larue MBTs. The MBTs are so close the the Geissele’s in break, crispness and reset, I could have saved myself over $1k going with the MBTs. :bash:
