So ive always wanted to shoot a nice drake Pintail but have yet to have the opportunity. My question what part of the state are guys picking them up? East, down towards the coast, or up north in the Skagit area?

Ferndale has a bunch, some spots in skagit do too. I would wait a few weeks. I haven’t seen many down yet. Not much has migrated yet.

Only one I ever got was near carnation. Wish I had thought about getting it stuffed along with a few others. This was ten or so years ago and I don't know enough about ducks to know if that's a good spot or a fluke. Good luck on your search!

Padilla Bay will soon be full of them. The dike on the DFW Samish property is a good place to look for one.

Were loaded up with pintails. Lots of them around in NW Washington.

We got one drake and one hen pintail out of 14 ducks today. Was hunting Oregon but tidal ponds off the Columbia. Near Clatskanie

Skagit Bay is loaded with Pintail right now. I was out in last Thursday's 30+mph winds, and was covered in Pintail flights all morning long. The drakes are fully plumed with nice long sprigs, of course all the other birds are plumed out as well.

They really moved in Christmas Eve around Everett. Ebey Island is loaded with em.

Took me about 14 years to finally get a nice drake in plumage that didn't make him look like a hen. :o Good luck!
