Title: shocks
Post by: jackelope on March 23, 2009, 01:45:29 PM
i have a 2002 z71 silverado that is stock height and need to replace the bilsteins it came with from the factory.
i am not looking to buy new bilsteins from the dealer because they are over $200.00 a piece even with my good guy deal i can get.....so i am looking for a good aftermarket replacement to suit a truck that is used for the kind of stuff we all do with our trucks. i do a little towing and plan to probably be doing a little more in the future, it is useed mildly off road, it is not a wheelin rig but it is my hunting and fishing rig.

anybody had good luck with a truck shock?

I would gladly use this information as well if possible. Mine are being replaced when I put new tires on.

Ranchos, the heaviest you can afford.  Absolutely love them on my 4x4s.

 :yeah:

I had some installed on an old 77 Suburban I used to own. They were awesome shocks and didn't cost an arm and a leg.

Try Summitracing on the web. Pretty decent prices on alot of different brands. Good service too.

If you had bilsteins and you liked them...replace them. Bilstein makes great shocks.
Hop on to summit as recommended (or use your google-fu) and find them there...you'll save over the dealer.

Otherwise, I'll throw in another vote for rancho's...RS9000 preferably. Good and tough.

KYB makes great shocks and if I was look at shocks any where around 200 I would go with Fox, King, Sway a way, ect :twocents: I have never liked bilstens shock unless they where there higher end shocks coil over one :dunno:.

I put an upper end Monroe on my F-150 and it actually rides better than stock.

I've gotten good performance out of the Ranchos I put on my Tundra.  Wouldn't hesitate to use em again.  My buddy runs em on his f150 and likes em.  Can't say that I know enough to really give you a solid recommendation though.

Rancho's on my F-250 rides pretty darn good for a 3/4 ton.
