Title: Semi Auto Shotgun recommendations
Post by: kodiak10 on January 08, 2019, 04:26:14 PM
Today is my birthday, and I decided that I am going to buy myself a semi auto shotgun! Any recommendations that you guys would have? I have been considering the browning auto loaders such as the A5 and the maxus. I also was considering the Winchester SX3. I figured I would go to the store and see which one fit me the best and what I liked the best, but I would like to hear from you guys!

Thanks!

I think you gave yourself the best advice!!  I've got the SX-2 (14 years old and never let me down), my dad and son both have the SX-3 both are absolutely reliable after years of use, and I bought an SX-4 last spring and have been using it all season with the same reliability.  That said, I would follow your advice and pick the one that feels best when shouldered!
Happy Birthday

Get the one that fits the best. I like the SX series of autos, use an SX2 Sporting for sporting clays as a backup when the weather is bad so I don't take my B 525 out in the rain. Happy-B-day 2UU's

Sx3 and Maxus are pretty much identical inside.  That said I shoot the Maxus and my son shoots the sx3. Both are great guns for the money.

Maxus has a big following, SBE has very mixed reviews, especially last few years.

Last year I finally replaced my 30 year old 11-87 with a SBE 3. I tried numerous shotguns and kept coming back to the SBE 3. It just felt the best to me. I have no regrets. Handle as many as you can. I read reviews and researched as much as I could, but what I thought I wanted, didn't fit me, or feel right in the hand. Numerous good shotguns. Find the one that fits you.

I honestly don't think there is wrong choice among those you listed. Whichever feels the best

I shoot a Mossberg 930.

Haven't had a single problem with it. I pattern turkey loads at 60 yards.

I run a maxus wicked wing, it cycles everything from 1 ounce skeet loads to my heavy 3 inch goose loads. Ive got about 3000 shells through it with 1 malfunction from getting tangled up jn the layout blind

Maxus all the way! I just picked one up a month ago, mostly because it was the one the felt the best in my hands. Its easy to clean, has light recoil, shoulders like a dream, and has adjustment shims for the perfect fit.

I cant say enough good things about it! My first shot out of it dropped a rooster pheasant. My first time shooting trap with it I shot a perfect 25. Great gun! Couldn't be happier with my purchase.

I ended up with a browning maxus! No other gun fit me better. I am amazed at how this gun shoots compared to my winchester sxp. There is utterly no comparison.

Got out and hunted some ducks with it and brought home a drake wigeon and a spoonie hen. I had so much fun with my new gun, and I am excited for years of hunts with it! Thank you so much everyone for your recommendations and help!
