Don't pay the extra to put any of your records in the book. They don't ever follow through or return emails about why they don't update anything. Waste of money.
Yeah it kinda sucks about that. They never update the website logs. The books come out every few years and has always updated when I had entered a trophy though

I won 1st in rocky my elk rifle a few years back and one a whole bag full of gear! The second time I won 1st in mule deer rifle and I won a cheap gerber-havalon knockoff knife :chuckle:. All depends on your ranking for the entire show. Some of the higher prizes are usually scopes, range finders etc

I won a 22 rifle once (1st place muzzy elk), and a nice gun cleaning kit (consolation prize for muzzy elk).

You 100% have to leave them if you want into the contest. If just scored you can take it with you.
Portland usually has way more entireties. There is cheats pretty much every year. Like whitetail from Canada or already been entered before and won.
Most prizes are pretty minimal. Get top 20 you get into some good stuff. I have entered a few best I did was 4th overall and won 500.00 the guys who won the guns were trying to trade me :chuckle:

Wondering if any of you have entered the head and horns competition at the Puyallup show. Thinking about putting my bull from this year in it, but not sure about leaving the rack at the show (as per the website) until the show closes. Anyone have any experience with this, and would they let you take the horns home instead of leaving them there?
i did once, took a 150+ typ blacktail i had taken that fall. i was skeptical as you but it was fine.

I think the racks are safe. I'll give you my experience, rack measured about 3" shorter than others had measured due to G1 (they told me they don't go back and remeasure). My animal took 3rd in show, then bumped to 2nd due to fraud on the first place rack. I didn't care about that much, but the "prize" that I won was a pair of Bushnell Fusion binos that were at end of life. The lens coatings were scratched up, I tried contacting H&H a couple of times with no reply. Bushnell, couldn't repair, so I have a heavy rangeing binos that are good for the west side density.
Is stuff safe, yes
Is it all about $25 and selling books, yes

Even if someone does steal a rack, why would they take this one?
There will be plenty of other racks to steal...... MUCH smaller and easier to hide.

I stopped by the booth and complained about their lack of revising the records at least online. I looked today and see that the moose category has been updated. 2 new record book archery Shiras moose. 1 being mine at #5. one rifle, that of the young gal Jada that has since passed.
Should be 2 more as well. Another archery bull and another rifle bull, both from the 2018 season.
