I've been seeing several reviews for Basemap and it seems to be a pretty good competitor to OnX although I have never used it. From the reviews, it sounds like the downloading is WAY easier, you have 3D maps as well as the layers might be easier to use. The cost is much better, but has anyone had first hand experience, particularly compared to OnX?

I've been running it for months but have zero experience with onx.
No 3d on computer, only phone app.
Has hiccups every now and then but a quick email to their support and I'm normally up and running instantly.
Download maps is easy, but I have no other experience to compare to.
I hate technology and computers but find I can navigate basemap easily.

I saw them at the show last week & download it. I’ve been playing with it and like it overall. The complaint I have on it is that when recording a track, and you look at it on the computer, the track info is wrong. I think the 3D is kind of a gimmick. I’ve used it on areas that I know are very steep & they look pretty flat on the 3D. Overall I like it, it’s a good program. I also like that it runs on my iPad. OnX doesn’t

An update for me: I've been playing wt it quite a bit the last couple weeks, and there are a lot of things on it that just don't work. OnX is worth the extra money.

OnX works fine on my iPad.
