Happy ending! https://news.sky.com/story/runner-kills-mountain-lion-after-being-attacked-and-drives-to-hospital-11628468

How did the guy kill a mt lion with his bare hands? Did I miss something?
-
Didn't pick up the tab?
-
I'm guessing a rear naked choke was involved! :chuckle:
In all seriousness, I'm glad to hear the guy fought off the cat and survived.

This article says he suffocated it:

Crazy! My neighbors wife and friend were walking down the John Wayne trail between thorp/Ellensburg recently and had a cat walk 25 yards in front of the across trail. They seem to be getting very comfortable around people these days

:yeah: That's the only logical way to kill a cat barehanded. Thankfully felines are pretty susceptible to quick strangulation

Holy smokes!!! This guy officially has the most gangster story ever!!!!! All I can think of is trying to hold onto a house cat that doesnt want to be held onto :yike: :bdid:

I agree. That guy is a savage and should never have to buy a drink again.

Thats what I was thinking too. Even if it was only an 80# cougar that's damn impressive. I used to think the guy in this story was the most gangster, but he didn't kill his so he gets bumped to 2nd place.

And Idaho not wanting to be outdone... :chuckle:

Short version...wife holds lion and her dog, yells for hubby to come shoot lion. Now that's an idaho woman!

Exactly! A 3 pound kitty cat is a real handful if it wants to be!

That's a bunch of flying claws and cats can pretty much reach anywhere they want no matter where you have them by.

A similar incident happened in Port Angeles in 1996.
http://community.seattletimes.nwsource.com/archive/?date=19960527&slug=2331443 (http://community.seattletimes.nwsource.com/archive/?date=19960527&slug=2331443)
A former college wrestler fended off a cougar attack on a popular hiking trail in Olympic National Park by locking his legs around the animal and squeezing its throat with his hands. Phil Anderson survived the attack Friday afternoon even though he could not choke the young, 80-pound cougar into unconsciousness. "I couldn't quite get my hands around his neck to shut off his esophagus. I could see in his eyes he was going in and out. He was right on the verge of passing out, but his neck was way too muscular," Anderson said yesterday from Port Angeles. After what Anderson thought was almost three minutes of holding the semiconscious cougar in a leg lock and choking it, he realized the cat's right paw might get some leverage against his chest. "I knew I couldn't hold him much longer. My muscles were cramping up. I was yelling, but the people in the parking lot must have thought it was kids playing. I wanted someone to come knock him in the head," Anderson said. With solid shoves against one another, the foes separated "and ran in different directions. I knew when we separated he would get me with his claws. I knew he would start to thrash." Anderson suffered a puncture wound to one hand and scratches and bites to his chest and stomach.

Thats straight forward manhood right there.
-
I wrestle with my 50 pound lab and she often is more than I can toss around if she can get keep her legs under her. I couldn't imagine the power in an 80 pound wild cat.
-
Anyone wanting to mug this guy or start a fight with him better steer clear! :chuckle:
Cougar attacks are occurring more often. After every one of these cougar attacks the authorities and news claim cougars rarely attack humans.
He said: "Mountain lion attacks are not common in Colorado and it is unfortunate that the lion's hunting instincts were triggered by the runner. This could have been a very different outcome."
Fewer than 20 people have been killed by mountain lion attacks in North America over the past century.
I wonder how many more attacks will occur before that changes? The next line says:
Since 1990, Colorado has had 16 injuries following mountain lion attacks and three fatalities.

I have scars from a bobcat kitten that was less than 2 pounds!
-
This dude should put on "how to choke out a mountain lion" clinics at sportsman's conventions as a side-hustle.
-
I think people should be mentally prepared in their mind, fight back instead of flailing around like a trout out of water on the end of a fishing line.
-
Next test.....grizzly bear.

Man I would love to meet a guy who could choke out a grizzly, sounds like one of those old myths or urban legends, something the old mountain men would sit around the fire and talk about :chuckle:
-
Not to mention while being in the middle of a workout! Must have also been a wrestler ;)
-
I just posted another one where a woman does it in Idaho. It’s getting rough out there. Lol

Next test.....grizzly bear.
I killed a grizzly with my bare hands once. It was a dark grizzly lager if I remember right.
-
I once wrestled a an old cougar into submission. She was three times my age and double my weight. Waitresses at a an unnamed greasy spoon. God I miss college.

I frequently drown grizzlies in my lower lip. Dark wintergreen pouches.

After she got you to submit, it went downhill from there I bet.

Young cat 30-40 lbs makes a lot morse since than a full grown adult, still not a fun tussle!
Much prefer to shoot it.
