Title: Montana gopher hunting

I have an invite to go and shoot gophers in central Montana on private property. For anyone that has done it, generally what time of the spring do you go?  Trying to make plans for time off. I do know it would be weather dependent, I just need an estimated time frame.

We used to go the last week of May/ first week of June, before the grass/alfalfa got too tall.
