What's the best time to hunt Spring turkey? I'm trying to plan my vacation time.

In the spring. :chuckle: :sry:

I try to get out as early as I can. Of course when I do then the turkey are late to the mating game. Whenever I go late the turkey have already packed up and headed for the hills. I travel from the wetside to hunt the NE corner. My advice it to make friends with people where you plan to hunt and reach out to them to see what's been happening throughout the year. It helps to be prepared to go home empty handed the first time out, but more knowledgeable about the location and conditions. I myself put down two weeks at the end of April, and will go again in September and most likely November if they run the season out again.

Last two weeks of May. Mostly empty woods, hens are on the nest, toms are highly responsive to calling. And the weather is pleasant.

Beginning, middle, and end :chuckle: :sry:.. No, but seriously I find that there's always at least a few toms patrolling for hens, no matter what time of the season.. The challenge is just finding those birds as they get pressured and move throughout the season. :twocents:

I used to hunt every weekend until we tagged out. Make the trip for opening week then hunt the weekends until we were done. To be honest with you the birds get smarter as the season continues, meaning they get call shy as the season continues. Early is best but I have killed more birds in the middle of the season than any other time plus less hunters.
