Not my idea, but 2 of these blocks made with 2x8 material make it very easy to get the chains on straight and tight before you drive with them. For the fronts, I prefer to drive up on the block from the left side of the photo, pull the chain over the tire and hook them in front of the tire...reverse for the rears.
