I am a sucker for cocobolo with sapwood! They sound as good as they look! Can't wait to get out this spring.

Where did you get those lovely's? Are pot calls like a slate call?
-
"slate call" has become a generalized term for pot calls, but pot calls can have any number of slate/crystal/glass/metal surfaces and soundboards.
These are John Sinclair Custom Calls out of PA. Handmade in America. Pick your wood, surface, soundboard etc. And they kill turkeys!

here is a soundfile of two different slate surfaces for comparison - there are a ton more on his youtube channel

Those are some nice looking calls.

Wow. Well then, now I know. Man, those calls are pretty slick. I think I'd feel bad scratching them up. Very fancy!
-
These are all hunting calls! A little bit of fine grit sandpaper and some Tru oil will make them like new I'd they do get scratched

Probably not in the same league as these beautiful calls, but I bought a Primos Ol Betsy off Amazon a few days ago on sale for $8.00. I had misplaced my slate call I used two years ago (another inexpensive Primos) and needed to grab another one. I wasn't going to pass this up at that price.
