Title: Complete AR parts kits $279 on Palmetto State Armory
Post by: Dan-o on March 12, 2019, 11:47:01 AM
That's about the best price I've seen in quite a while.

Just thought I'd pass it along.

Just make sure to keep track of what you spend there if they do not charge Tax on checkout.  PSA is one of those companies that gave up their customers purchases to WA state DOR so the customers now have to pay for back USE Tax for all purchases made in 2018.

Unless your FFL charges sales tax when you do the transfer.  If the FFL doesn't charge tax, how do you go about paying the use tax to the state?  :dunno:

I made a purchase of a complete upper with them in January of this year ,included in the cost was sales tax. I believe that tax issue is no longer a problem...if you want to look at it that way ? The state will get your tax money.

It's a new law that was passed for internet purchases. I got a postcard the other day from palmetto state stating I what purchases I owe taxes on. Nothing ffl related either.

I think they had to comply. It's a law now.

Yes it is a new law, however it was their failure to comply with it and charge customers in advance.  The way the law was written any business doing over $100k or more than 200 transactions into the state was supposed to cover it themselves, but somehow they got away with putting it back on their customers.  I know when I went legit I was not given the option to turn my customers in for unpaid tax, I had to pay up out of pocket for non-charged salestax.
Per the DOR website PSA should have been required to pay up and I cannot fathom they had less than 200 sales into this state.

I just checked and their site does charge tax now, so at least they fixed it moving forward.

I purchased a 16” mid-length 5.56 (in OD green) last week on this deal. Thought it was a good price and will be my first “build”, if you can call purchasing a complete upper a build.

I am a little Leary about putting together a stripped lower though, are there any good YouTube videos or step by steps you guys have seen on how to put the rest of this rifle together?

Thanks!

Wish I had the cash laying around, I have two stripped lowers just waiting on the shelf for something to do.

Thanks for the video, it’s detailed which is perfect! Now to go pick up a lower and some tools....

I am thinking an aero precision lower that a local gun shop carries should do the trick?

Thanks!

Dumb question but I have never built one before but what else does a guy need to buy to make this complete and functional?

a stripped lower, because this comes with a lower parts kit.  That stripped lower needs to go through a FFL.

Or an 80% lower that you finish yourself and no FFL transfer required.

They're pretty easy to put together. I did my first one last month with zero prior experience, it doesn't come with any directions but all the parts come separated out in baggies (trigger parts, Mag release parts etc) and its pretty simple to follow along with a youtube vid and slap it together

Good point.

And you can get the stripped lower for $50 at Palmetto when you order your kit.....Or you can spend as much as you want.   But it's just a chunk of metal (or plastic!).
