So weve been contemplating getting back into a truck camper the past few trips weve take with the travel trailer.
My shortbed f250 could handle a smaller camper, but we want a 9-10' one, and still be able to pull other toys.
Enter a new ram! Looking at getting a 2019 tradesman 3500 drw, with the hemi. I've always heard go to Dave smith, but lately I'm hearing alot about Dennis dillion as well.
Does one stand out above the other in any way?
Thanks for the info!

You see a million Dave Smith plates on the road, but I have stopped there twice and couldn't come close to a deal.
I don't know the other one.
-
I wasnt impressed with Dave Smith and ended up buying my Ram 2500 at Dick Hannah in Vancouver. They had the best price. But for a Tradesman Dennis Dillon might be your best bet, and price.
-
I kept looking on line at Dave Smith for rigs. I think they use every tracking cookie imaginable. Dave Smith pops up on every page I open now.

Yep. I've been on their website twice, and it's on every popup imaginable.
I like that Dennis dillon has prices posted on their website.

Dave Smith is riding on their enormity, people assuming they got the best deals there because they've slung the most feces on the wall and got some to stick.

In 1999 I went through Costco and bought a 2500 Quad cab diesel saving over $5K. Drove that truck for 18 years and 260,000 miles. Went to the Costco dealer again and was not impressed. So started looking at Dave Smith and saved about $10k from the Costco program. I loved my experience with Dave Smith! :twocents:

I am sure you are being truthful.
I just could never understand how they sold that many rigs, but I couldn't come close with them...... :dunno: :dunno: :dunno:
They sell a billion rigs, so they must be doing something right.
-
I like the Ram Dealer in Lewiston. Puts sales prices on the window and ez financing.
Had a number of ram 2500 deisels in the 42k - 52k range last fall.

2nd Dave Smith

The staff told me when I was there they sell between 1200-1500 rigs a month. They also have seven shuttles that pick people up from the airport. Some of the vehicles are never even seen by the buyer at the dealership because they are shipped directly to them.

When i was truck shopping i was looking at chevys and rams and i priced checked chevy prices with dave smith and they were at the same price or a little over that other local dealers I was looking at. I have heard good things about Dennis Dillon. Spec out the truck you want and get prices from both and go with the lowest. I bought my 2500 tradesman from Lithia Dodge in Eugene oregon.

Eugene oregon.
Do you avoid salestax that way, or did they catch up on that and nail you now.

If you bring any vehicle into wa and didn't pay taxes on it you will when you tag/title it.
If the vehicle is purchased in another state and you DO pay taxes in that state, you better have a way to prove you paid taxes on it whenever you bought it. If no proof (even if bought 20 years ago), you will then pay taxes (on KBB value) again in Wa when tag and title happens.
-
The only way you can save on tax for things that need titles is if you buy them in parts and get separate receipts. This might be hard with trucks, but if you get a bunch of accessories, warranties or stuff that can be separated from the truck, have them invoiced separately.

When I was buying the wife's Jeep we were at a dealership in Spokane. Got a final price. Called Dave Smith and said hey is it worth driving all the way out there. I got the same make, and model with a few extras for $4000 less. It was worth the drive for me. Bought a Jeep from them back in 2010 and got the extended warranty, the kind if you don't use it you get your money back. Didn't use it and got all of it back in pretty quick time. Recently we had a issue with the Jeep, we were 46 miles over the warranty. They said bring it on out, they fixed it and didn't charge us a dime. Would have costs use at least $500. I'm a Dave Smith fan!

The Bellingham Chrysler dealer (Rairdon's) matched Dave Smith's offer on my wife's jeep, after tax, which surprised me.
I've purchased quite a few fleet rigs from Dave Smith. It's quick and easy, and they'll ship them to me for a fair price. Fleet is a different animal though, with the discounts we get thru our Equipment Manufacturer, there is basically no haggling.
Just goes to show it's worth shopping around I guess.

Yeah we have a thing through my work where we can pay the same rates they pay, which takes the haggling out of it. Buddy used it to buy an f150 last year, but the end of year clearance discounts were more.
I'm going to get that info so I can see what the price would be. If I can get it close to Dave smith or Dennis dillon's prices, I may just buy local. (X pricing is the same at every dealer supposedly).
Anyone have an idea of how long it takes to build and ship a truck?

I ordered my last truck and it took just shy of 3 months. I was told 6 to 8 weeks. GM

I bought my 02 Ram from Dave Smith. Same story, was a few thousand less than any other dealer. And I checked them all. I will never forget the sales guy here in Yakima when i told him what they were going to sell me the truck for and I would rather buy it here. He said 'Son no one can sell you that truck for that price.' He was wrong - what a tool.
Had a great sales guy at Dave Smiths. All over the phone. Had talked to him about getting the bed rhino-lined. When I went to pick it up and went to look at the truck he had it rhino-lined and just threw it in. Then after all the paperwork and as we were leaving he said to be sure to check the glove box on the way home. Wife opened it and there was a bottle of Crown and a nice thank you note. We made a weekend of it and went to Silverwood as well.
Oh and i did go back to the guy here in Yakima with my brand new truck just to make the point......

The yakima ram dealers suck. They tried screwing me couple years ago on a trade in then another dip sh it stepped in and was a straight up jerk after i told him i bought a truck at grandview dealership. wont ever buy from them. He was calling me a liar and said I didnt buy one down there and said he even called down there to check, that is until i took a picture of the license plate and texted it to him.

My dad has bought two pickups from Dave Smith Andy been happy both times. He last one was 3-4 years ago, a Chevy 3500 diesel. He saved $12,000 over buying the same truck at Roy Robinson in marysville.

I've bought a few rigs from dave smith...always been impressed. I was looking at Dennis dillon a few years ago for a new truck and the salesman would never give me a straight answer on total price. They were close to Smith on advertised price but the more I talked to the salesman the less clear I got...had a feeling if I drove to boise there would be games and bs and they'd find a way to raise the price. Dave Smith guy was very clear, great price, and everything was exactly as we discussed.
-
Dave Smith sells a lot of trucks because their prices are hard to beat.
-
I just bought a new Ram 3500 from Dennis Dillon in December. I was kind of particular what I wanted, Dave Smith didn't have it and Dennis Dillon did. The whole deal was done over the phone and was pretty painless, the 8hr drive did suck though. Everything being what it was I would buy there again.

Another Dave Smith fan here.
I have bought 4 new Rams from them and recently 2- 2017 GMC’s and 2018 Chev truck for our company . I have never found a better out the door price, and I have spent some time doing the research. I had them ship the 2 trucks in 2017 to our door for $1200.00 for both which was worth every penny.

Another vote for Dave smith
The Yakima dodge dealer is a joke. I bought my truck in for warranty work and the Yakima dodge dealer refused because I did not buy from them. The Yakima Toyota dealer is a crook too. Way over charge for repair s and won’t match other dealers ‘ price s

I recently bought a new 18 Silverado. Called Dave Smith. They wanted $44000 for it. Found the same truck at Bill Pierre for $36000. I was really surprised with everything I've heard of Dave Smith.

I bought a 2013 Ram 2500 Bighorn diesel from Dennis Dillon. My wife and I flew into Boise from Bellingham and they picked us up at the airport. Absolutely no surprises on the price and they were great people to deal with. I paid $40,867 and the MSRP was $53,175. I called Dave Smith also and they could’nt match that price. My family has purchased numerous trucks from Dave Smith all with fantastic experiences. I would recommend both highly and would’nt hesitate purchasing a truck from either one.
